Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Course This course covers the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and the essential skills required. Is this course for me? It is for anyone that would like to become a competent AED operator. It will further your skills and give you the confidence to deal with this type of emergency. Course Duration 4 hours Course Times AM / PM On-Site course timings can be arranged to suit your requirements What will I learn? An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a crucial aid to have in the workplace as it is proven to save lives. This course will teach you how to use an AED correctly and efficiently and has been designed to build knowledge and confidence. The course covers the following topics:

The priorities of first aid Assessing and managing an incident Treatment of an unconscious casualty Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Safety checks Operation and maintenance of an automated external defibrillator Importance of recording incidents and actions

Pre-requisites The practical elements of this course are essential as they provide you with vital hands-on experience. It is important that you are physically able to take part in the practical parts of the course. The HSE requires you to attend the full duration of the course to be eligible for evaluation. Assessment and Certification You will be continually assessed throughout the duration of the course by one of our qualified trainers. Upon successful completion you will receive an Automated External Defibrillator Operator Certificate which is recommended to be updated once a year. Additional Information This course can be completed as an external course at one of our external venues which are strategically placed throughout the UK including all major cities. Alternatively, if you have a suitable room available one of our trainers could deliver this course at your premises on a date of your choice. The timings could also be arranged to suit your requirements. On-Site Training Room Requirements It is recommended that the room size should be approximately 20 x 30 feet for a full 12 person course. The room should be large enough to seat all candidates comfortably in a semi-circle formation. The floor space in the centre should be clean and uncluttered as this will be used for the practical parts of the course. The trainer will also require a flip chart if one is available.
