About me

Originally from Pomorie, Bulgaria, my educational journey led me to Karlsruhe, Germany. From a young age, I’ve been entranced by the intricate designs of buildings and spaces. It’s this enduring fascination, combined with unwavering determination, that paved the way for my achievement of a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.

I possess a keen eye for detail, a flair for creativity, and an insatiable curiosity. I excel as a collaborative team player and perform well in high-pressure situations. My passion lies in continually expanding my understanding of architecture and design. I actively seek opportunities for personal growth and consistently strive to deliver my best.

Weather Tower & Environmental Station

Module: Studio Structure

Semester: SS19

Team: Ilina Polihronova & Alisa Fainberg

In the vicinity of the city of Weingarten (Baden) are first built a weather tower with measuring instruments on the roof and later next to it an environmental station, where the measured data can be processed. The two buildings are designed not only for the use of scientists and employees, but they are planned as an interesting and suitable place for visitors.

The construction of the weather tower is made of brick walls with reinforced concrete platforms and stairs. The tower looks light and open and serves not only for better positioning the weather measuring devices on top of it, but offers a 360-degree panoramic walk with magnificent views of the city and nature from above.

Right next to it is the environmental station, which is designed as a wooden skeleton structure and has offices for the staff working there as well as a café available for the public. The station has a spacious terrace, along which are several wide steps suitable for seating, from which visitors can enjoy the beautiful view of the city.

Home Sweet Home (Office)

Module: Studio Context

Semester: WS20/21

Team: Ilina Polihronova, Nicola Marquaß & Marcel Erdmann

Taking inspiration from Heidelberg’s name and its picturesque mountainous surroundings, the structure is thoughtfully crafted to emulate the undulating terrain, with a primary objective of seamlessly merging the natural landscape with the urban setting.

The architectural concept of the building embraces a stepped design, strategically aligned with the path of the sun, to optimize the infusion of natural light into the living spaces within the apartments.

Internally, the building accommodates a diverse range of spaces, including offices, co-working areas, residential areas, a boarding house, and a restaurant. The structure is composed of two subterranean levels, constructed with reinforced concrete to serve as parking facilities. Above ground, there are eight floors, constructed using robust solid wooden walls (Holz100 elements).

Death in the Age of Immortality

Module: Bachelor Thesis

Semester: WS21/22

Team: Ilina Polihronova

With the harmonious connection of the three thematic strands - science, logistics and ritual, the purpose of the building is to show through architecture and the space program that death does not always mean the end.

The main concept is to extend the existing wall of the cemetery and in this way define the building and its courtyard as a new part of the cemetery park. The aim is to create a quiet and harmonious park, protected from the harsh and noisy urban environment. This was achieved by enclosing the site with a wall similar in material to the cemetery wall, but with the function of a weather-protected columbarium.

The building itself consists of three floors and five entrances. The construction on the ground floor and first floor consists of solid wooden walls (Holz100 elements) and wooden columns in combination with glass elements and in the basement of reinforced concrete with an exposed concrete look.
