Issue No. 80 (Gang Show Camp Edition)

March 2012

Outside at Camp We arrived at Douglaswood on Saturday morning and all gathered in the Larg Centre where we were split into 6 teams. We were then asked to go outside to think of 2 truths and a lie as an ice breaker, which we did but this descended into a snowball fight after Ryan Culbert threw a snowball at Daniel Stephen. We came back inside and sat in our groups where we each told our 2 truths and 1 lie and our group had to decide which was the lie. After that we went outside and got 4 chairs per team and had to get from one bit of the snow/grass to the other bit of grass/ snow without touching the ground. The game was called mine field and Team 3 won this but they did have one less member than every other team. After this game we were each given a balloon that was tied to your ankle and the aim of the game was to run about and burst each other’s balloon. We then played a range of games such as egg and spoon race, coin hunt, and jug run. The games ended with pick a number where everyone picked a number from 1 to 42. The number corresponded to a balloon which had either custard, rice pudding, water, or nothing in it. The worse the contents the better the score you got for your team. Tomorrow is another day………….. Gang Show Capers – some funny stories from past shows: Harry Johnston Harry was making his way back to his dressing room after being on stage for the Beaver number. There had been a spillage on the floor and he slipped and fell into the Cub girl’s dressing room. Harry would rather not say what he saw! Amy Melville During the “Starlight” number in 2010, Amy and her sister were on roller-skates. She fell and almost ended up in the orchestra pit. Fortunately, Amy was not harmed and still lives to tell the tale. Daisy Johnston During Gang Show 2012 after finishing the tap dance in the “America” number Daisy exited stage right and fell flat on her face down the stair witnessed by Gayle Strachan and Megan Scott. Daisy ended up with minor cuts and bruises and a huge rip in her tights. Ellie McDonald Before going on stage in Gang Show 2011, Ellie McDonald put Vaseline on her teeth in the hope of wining a smiley award. Ellie failed miserably in her quest! :( Fraser Watson While performing in the “Rat Pack” number in 2012, Fraser was walking round in a group circle, a clumsy person behind him stood on his heel causing his shoe to half come off. Fraser admirably carried on and managed to get the show back on his foot.
