Hello delegates, Since 2013, Queen's Startup Summit has been uniting bright minds to spark and develop their passion for innovation, technology & entrepreneurship. This is an unparalleled opportunity for young entrepreneurs to refine their ideas through learning opportunities. Over the next three days, ideas will turn into reality through incorporating aspects of design, technology and science.

Our vision for Queen’s Startup Summit is to encourage a cross-functional synergy between enthusiastic young minds with the support of industry professionals. In order to achieve this, you will hear from speakers with expertise in navigating the technology and startup landscape. Furthermore, the support of mentors will guide teams through their ideation process. We are excited to see your ideas grow into quality ventures that will be of high caliber in sophistication, innovation and dedication!

This summit has been planned over the last 10 months by a group of passionate undergraduate students at Queen's University. SATURDAY WORKSHOP

SHARI HUGHSON Director of Masters of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Queen's Smith School of Business

Shari will be leading the Saturday morning workshop for the delegates.

She will be using the lean startup methodology. The purpose of this workshop will be to teach students how to effectively structure their ideas and develop solutions. Shari will be introducing the deliverable outline of the 24-hour pitch, which teams will be presenting to the judges on the Sunday.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Anik Dubreuil Anik is responsible for providing vision, strategic direction and leadership for the development, integration and implementation of the digital capabilities required to create a competitive advantage for Canada Post and the Group of Companies, which also includes Purolator and SCI. Anik is an accomplished IT executive with broad industry experience. She joined Innovapost from Lorange Leclair & Compagnie, a strategic consulting company in IT management, partnership development, and program management for business and IT transformations, where she was co-owner and senior partner. Prior to Lorange Leclair, she held significant IT leadership roles with National Bank Financial, SunGard Data Systems and the Department of National Defence.

George Dunning George is responsible for Innovapost’s innovation strategy and programs. These programs impact all employees across Innovapost and act as a channel for igniting innovation across the Canada Post Group of Companies.

Johanne Leduc Johanne Leduc is an Enterprise Agile Coach at Innovapost. A skilled practitioner and enabler of Agile and Lean principles and practices, Johanne helps the organization and its teams achieve higher levels of value delivery while building a continuous improvement mindset through training, facilitating and coaching.

Fenton Jagdeo Fenton currently works for Deloitte’s global management consulting practice with a focus on business strategy and innovation, doing most of his work with the world’s most renowned innovation strategy shop, Doblin. He brings his problem solving and advisory skills to help organizations and their leaders overcome their most critical challenges. Fenton serves as director on the Toronto Public Library board and chairs the street planning committee, and is responsible for developing the Library’s five-year strategy. Keeping busy, Fenton serves on the events committee for the Empire Club of Canada. He holds an HBA from Western's Ivey Business School

Joshua Goodfield Joshua is the Partnerships & Business Development Manager at the C100. He is responsible for helping Canadian entrepreneurs build their network in Silicon Valley to overcome the challenges of scaling. Previously, he worked in clean-tech and energy policy at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission of Asia-Pacific. Joshua holds a Master’s of Applied Science and is a proud Queen’s alumnus. He is currently on the executive team of the Queen’s University Alumni Association — Northern California branch.

LIGHTNING TALKS Michael Cruickshank Mike Cruickshank is a Data Scientist on National Bank’s Artificial Intelligence Team. He partners with a wide range of teams within the bank to enhance their current operations and find innovative new opportunities by leveraging AI and big data. Currently he is working on a project in Financial Markets. Mike is also a recent Queen’s grad (Engineering Physics ’19).

Andres Rass Andres Rass is Sr. Manager Global Electronic Trading Technology at National Bank of Canada. Primary responsibilities include Derivative, Equity and FX execution, market data, infrastructure and application integration/development. Career includes 25+ years of International experience in high frequency ULL algorithmic trading including current #1 ETF market making ecosystem in Canada.

Karen Deng Karen is forging partnerships for Interac Corp, including working closely with the tech and developer community. She has experience working in health administration & technology innovation management. Karen has experience in health policy, program evaluation, impact assessment, and funding strategy. She is a credentialed Canadian Evaluator and Queen’s Alumni.

Andrew Bacchus Business Development Officer at KEDCO Andrew works with companies that are developing new technologies and products, supports their venture through research, piloting, and attracting demonstration projects from different sectors such as energy, cleantech, artificial intelligence, and advanced materials. Andrew has been active in the economic development field for 10 years and is currently a director on the Board of Directors of SWITCH – an organization dedicated to improving the environmental and economic sustainability of Southeastern Ontario.

Andrew has a Master’s in Local Economic Development from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development from the University of Ottawa.

Altair Ioffe Founder of Indezone Altair founded Ioffe Biotechnologies Inc. while studying genetics and biochemistry in his undergrad.

Winning several awards and pitch competitions for his startup, he went on to launch the company's first product, Indezone Energy, while completing his MBA at Queen's.

President & Founder of QueryVision Anil regularly advises businesses and governments on how to leverage data to make better decisions and become more efficient and competitive, using Data Analytics and AI. He has held numerous leadership positions with companies such as Cognos, Business Objects and OLAP@Work, before starting his own software and consulting company.

Working across industries such as Telecommunications, Retail, Banking, Pharma, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Transportation has given him a broad perspective on how interconnected businesses and governments can work together using open and shared data.

Senior Developer at Interac Claudio is a full stack developer who has over 20 years of experience working in Europe and Canada, within the telecommunications, retail, logistics, engineering, non-profit, tourism and culture industries. He is a certified Network Intelligence Engineer and a certified Computer Science Trainer, with expertise on navigating the API, JavaScript, PHP, Postman and about any other technologies you might be working with.

Sales Engineer at ADA Anuj currently leads the Sales Engineering team at ADA Support Inc., high-growth AI startup in Toronto. Previously, he was a Management Consultant at Accenture, working with Fortune 100 companies and Governments to execute technology and business transformations. He was also a twotime delegate and one time runner- up at QSS!

Program Coordinator at DDQIC Joanna has been working as a Program Coordinator with the Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre (DDQIC) team for two years and brings with her a multidisciplinary background and a passion for helping others succeed. She graduated from Queen's with a Medial in Philosophy-Psychology in 2014 and went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree with a specialization in legal, moral and political philosophy. Her desire to pursue a career in innovation and entrepreneurship was stimulated by her experience in the Graduate Diploma in Business program at Smith School of Business.

Marie Labbe Communications and Community Coordinator at Agorize

Stefan Sokic

Marie is a Communication and Community Builder at Agorize North America, where she strives to engage with innovators around the world, and connect them to a plurality of companies through Agorize challenges. Having previously studied marketing, public relations and politics, she has been a judge and a mentor for many competitions such as the McGill Management International Case Competition, HEC 24H Startup, Purdue University Hello World and StarterHacks at the University of Waterloo.

Software Developer at Kindred.ai Stefan is a Queen’s ’18 Bachelor of Computing and Economics grad. During his time at Queen’s he was involved with QHacks and Queen’s Consulting Association and more. Stefan is also a past QSS executive member ! He is experienced in software development, with internships at Dessa and Mosaic Manufacturing. Stefan is currently a software engineer at Kindred.ai where he is builds artificial intelligence for robots.

Linnea Chamberlain President of Chamberlain Architecture Services Linnea Chamberlain’s current role as President of Chamberlain Architect Services Ltd. is varied and includes providing clear leadership, and formulating strategic plans across all platforms of the business. She uses her over 20 years of experience in the industry and her Project Management Professional (PMP) skills to accomplish a diverse range of tasks. Linnea is passionate about social responsibility and sat on the Board of Directors for Woodview Mental Health and Autism Services and spent many years volunteering with the Aga Khan World Partnership Golf. Currently, Linnea sits on the Sheridan School of Architecture professional advisory committee.

PITCH GUIDELINES Delegates will be working in teams of 2 -5 members to develop a startup idea to be pitched to a panel of judges.

Competition: Saturday 10:30AM - Sunday 9AM Presentations: Sunday 11:30AM - 2 PM Each team is assigned a breakout room located in the Integrated Learning Center (ILC). Rooms are available for team use overnight, Saturday to Sunday.
