Brodsworth Hall & Gardens

Catch a glimpse of Victorian life at this ‘conserved as found’ country house.

Wander around beautiful interiors, roam the gorgeous gardens, stop for tea in the tearoom, and discover the children’s play area. Brodsworth Hall was built and the pleasure gardens laid out, in the 1860s, as an up-to-date new home for the Thellusson family and their servants. The gardens have been restored, and the faded and worn interiors gently conserved, telling the story of the changing fortunes of the people who lived and worked here. Don’t forget to visit the newly restored Target Garden, Victorian garden privy and Game Larder, enjoy band Sundays throughout the summer and check the website for a packed event programme.

The stately home and grounds offer a great mix of heritage in the house and gardens, interactive trails, play features and - best of all - the zoo. Step back in time in the house and learn about the history of the Lloyd-Greame family. Be entertained in the zoo with the friendly penguins, pygmy goats and Eccy the parrot, who is always keen to chat. Relax in the Walled and Rose Gardens and be amazed by the giant monkey puzzle trees in the Pleasure Gardens. Don’t miss the Natural History Museum’s 58th Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition between 5th May - 16th July 2023. It certainly is a great day out for the whole family.
