MATCH DAY SATURDAY, 10TH FEBRUARY THE NEW LODGE, 3PM

HUTTON FC

C F N O T CLAP The history of Clapton is very much that of a club which has a history and reputation unparalleled in non league football. Founded in 1877 as Downs FC in Downs Rd Hackney. Clapton in 1894 became founder members of the Southern League (Dr Martins) along with Luton Town, Milwall, Reading, Southampton and Swindon. Arsenal were prime movers but left to join the football league whilst Tottenham Hotspurs application was rejected!! The club was one of the original founder members of the Isthmian League in 1905 which was then and up until the early 70s one of the most important semi professional leagues in the county. Clapton’s reputation and history is tied to the early days of this league and the prestigious FA Amateur Cup and were twice winners of the league and five times winners of the Cup In 1956 Clapton played in the first floodlit game for an amateur side against Barking at Upton Park in front of 5,000 people. Their best ever FA Cup run was during this time with a 1-1 draw against QPR in 1957 before losing the reply away 1-3 in front of 14,000. With the introduction of the Premier Division, Clapton had a brief change of fortune and won the Division Two title in 1982-83 as well as the Essex Senior Cup in 1983-84 beating Southend Utd . The Essex Thameside Trophy was won in 1983-84 and retained the following year.. Relegation to the newly formed Division 2 North followed in 1984-85. Still the club rallied to win the Essex Senior Trophy in 1988 and lost in the final of the London Senior Cup the same year 0-1 to then conference side Fisher Athletic. However a 7th place finish in 1988-1989 saw a mass exodus of players at the end of the season and two seasons later Clapton were in Division 3 (now Div 2) upon reorganisation of the league. In 2006, restructuring of the Ryman league led to Clapton being placed in the Essex Senior League. Whilst no longer one of the major players on the non league scene the club’s youth development is legendary with many of its players passing through its doors and going on to Senior clubs. With Chief Executive Vince McBean at the helm and a strong football and management team, the club is continuing to develop the foundations for the future based on a long-term structure. Whilst no longer one of the major players on the non-league scene the club’s youth development is legendary with hundreds of its players passing through its doors and going on to Senior clubs. Since 2012, we have also seen (through the continued drive of management and the development team), the club again starting to make strides again up the league table. Clapton finished in 7th place in 2015-16 and were winners of the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy in the same year. The 2016-17 season saw the Tons maintain a strong position in the standings of the Essex Senior League, eventually finishing in 2nd place overall. After a short spell ground sharing with Southend Manor FC in 2019, the Tons have made a new home at the Terence McMillan Stadium in Plaistow, E13 8SD, since 2020-21

N O T T U H B U L C L L A B T O O F Hutton Football Club is an FA Charter Standard Community Football Club. Being part of our community is important to the Club. We expect everyone connected with the Club to be respectful, disciplined and responsible. Our young players will learn the game in a positive environment. Hutton FC is a Club, a team, a family not individuals. HUTTON FC HISTORY The club was founded in 1928 and has been prominent in local football since that time with cup winner’s medals dating back to 1932. A key factor in the continued success of Hutton Football Club is the progression of young, local players. The senior teams played in the Mid Essex League until 1989 when progression was made into the Essex Intermediate, now the Essex Olympian League. The Club expanded rapidly after 2005 with the merger of Hutton FC and Hutton Medway FC (established in 1969). The Club now has 70 teams based in our local community. The current club house has been at the Polo Fields for over 50 years, two previous buildings being destroyed by fire, and the second one having been struck by lightning. In 2010, the Clubhouse was vandalised and set on fire but has now been repaired and enhanced thanks to a large grant from Sport England. Recent history has seen more rapid developments at the club. The Football Association awarded Hutton FC with Charter Standard Community status which is the highest accreditation a club can achieve. In 2005, when the award was granted, there were only nine clubs in the whole of Essex with this status. The Club is very proud to have been awarded Community Club of the year twice by Essex County FA. The club has been encouraging girls to come and play for a number of years, and in 2005 the first official Hutton girls’ team was formed and since then, our Ladies 1st and reserve teams have been added to help with progression. The Club has been involved in a European Tournament played against professional clubs' youth teams, with outstanding facilities. The Clubs are; Saint Ingbert (Germany), Rumelange (Luxembourg) and Zandhoven (Belgium). The tournament celebrates its 50th year in 2025. Our senior men’s 1st team won the EOFL premier division 2022/23 season gaining promotion to the NLS, playing in the Thurlow Nunn League South. WHAT 'S SINGHY SAYING?

MATT SINGH, FIRST TEAM MANAGER Last weekends league game was one we will all remember. I personally found it the most enjoyable game of the season, even though we were very hard done by. The welcome we received, the vibe from 590 fans, being clapped off the pitch and the honesty of the oppositions management, reminded me what non league is really about. The boys were superb all over the pitch and really put a shift in. Everyone would have seen online how poor the penalty decision against us was but the equaliser was something special. The midweek cup game wasn’t to be. It felt more like a trialist game with so many new/young faces and players out of position. It was a shame we couldn’t field our full side as we would be very confident that we would have progressed. Todays game will be a tough test. Clapton are a hard working side who like to put teams under pressure. Thankfully for both sides it wont be 30+ degrees as the away fixture was. Thanks as always for the support. Singhy

Hutton FC has one of the most established and respected girls sections in Essex. The section is comprised of a thriving Wildcats group for our newest female ballers and 11 teams ranging from Under 8s through to u18s. Our current Under 8s manager Stuart Hart has already taken one team through the age ranges to under 18 and is now starting again! Our girl's teams usually start playing in mixed leagues in the Brentwood Community Youth Football League before moving on to play in the Essex County Girls League. The overriding ethos for the section is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for our girls to enjoy their footballing journey, and to create lasting memories and friendships. As well as looking after teams within the section we also have 3 of our girl's section managers involved as Trustees of Hutton FC and as such the needs of our female players are reflected equally in all decisions made regarding the direction of the club. We currently have a number of openings for girls in years 6, 7 and 8 so are keen to welcome players either new to the sport or experienced. As the section has grown so too has our need for coaches and managers, so if you'd like to get involved don't hesitate to get in touch!
