TOP TIPS ON MAINTAINING A LEGENDARY LAWN:

Take a look below the surface and see if your lawn is thriving or failing. A simple soil test can unlock all the answers to improve your lawn. Simply grab a spade and dig a small, square hole, 100-150mm deep. You can then closely examine the sample of soil you have collected. Check to see how moist the soil is. The ideal sample should look like a big piece of chocolate cake - a consistent, rich colour that is moist. If it feels old and dry, you will know it needs watering, aeration and wetting agents to rehydrate the root area.

It is recommended that your lawn receives a deep watering once or twice a week, a little less during winter and if you have received frequent rain. Deep watering encourages a deep root system and therefore a healthy lawn. Watering lightly five times a week only encourages shallow root growth, leading to an unhealthy lawn.

If water isn’t absorbing and appears to run away as soon as you start watering, a wetting agent can be used to help lower the soils surface tension and allow water to better penetrate the profile.

The perfect height can vary between grasses but maintaining a length between 50 and 75mm will suit most types. Always cut your grass using the one third rule – never cut the grass leaf more than a third in each cutting. Before you start mowing, assess the height of the lawn then adjust the mower height accordingly. The one third rule also means that your clippings are much shorter and can be mulched back into the lawn using a mulcher. Cutting your grass too short will increase the risk of scalping the lawn which can lead to lawn death, stunted growth and it can also create a void for weeds and unwanted grasses to take hold.

If you haven’t been able to mow your grass for a few weeks, continue to use the one third rule and mow every couple of days until you reach your optimal height you wish to maintain.

TURF PARTS (Riding lawn equipment, Utility vehicles, Compact Utility Tractors 1-4 Series, Golf & Turf, Commercial Mowing): Warranty Term - 6 months/unlimited hours for parts installed by a John Deere Dealer.

ALL OTHER AG PARTS Warranty Term - 12 months/unlimited hours for genuine parts installed by a John Deere DealWarranty Term - 6 months/unlimited hours for genuine parts that are not installed by a John Deere Dealer.

Terms and Conditions: The part must be returned, together with the original sales invoice or receipt showing the date of purchase.

Parts Warranty terms begin on the date of purchase by the original purchaser, (except for certain agricultural tillage, planting, cultivating, harvesting, and application equipment which may have a delayed warranty start date, but only established by John Deere and noted by the selling Dealer on the Purchase Order).
