Manganese steel is a steel alloy that contains 12-14% of Manganese. It is also known as Hadfield Steel which has a high impact strength and is resistant to abrasion.

Production of Manganese steel includes an elaborate process. Some of these vital processes are discussed in the following slides.

Creating a Wax Pattern: This is the initial stage of production.

Wax Tree Assembly: The finished pattern made from wax is assembled at a wax sprue for manufacturing the steel.

Building the Shell: Once the wax tree is made, it is covered by a ceramic shell. The alloy is then poured into the shell.

Removing the Wax: The wax is removed once the alloy is solidified.

Metal Pouring: It is a crucial stage where the metal is injected into the shell. Before performing this task, the shell is preheated to avoid freezing or solidification.

Knocking Off the Shell: The shell is broken down carefully once the Manganese steel reaches the desired shape. Typically, the shell is removed by three mechanical procedures.
