OPERATING SAFETY
1.All customers are REQUIRED to perform a Risk Assessment for every implement on their property.
2.Safety instructions are critical. Thoroughly read all manuals, attachments, and decals. Adhering to safety rules is essential to avoid serious injury or even death.
3.Seek Assistance If Needed: If any part of the manual is unclear, reach out to your local dealer for guidance and training. No operator, regardless of their experience, should operate any machinery without proper training.
4.Handle Hydraulic Systems Safely:
• Keep your hands and body clear of pressurized hydraulic lines. Use cardboard or paper to detect leaks, not your hands.
• Always wear safety goggles. Hydraulic fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing severe injury or death. If hydraulic fluid enters the skin or eyes, seek immediate medical attention from a physician trained in this type of injury. Prompt action is critical to prevent gangrene or other serious complications.
5.Operators must fully understand all controls and know how to stop the equipment quickly in case of an emergency.
6.Only trained and competent individuals should operate the equipment. Children or untrained individuals must never be allowed to use the machinery.
7.Ensure all bolts, screws, and other hardware are tight and properly installed before use.
8.Wear snug-fitting clothing to prevent entanglement in moving parts. Heavy-duty boots with rough soles, protective gloves, goggles, and hearing protection should also be worn as applicable
OPERATING SAFETY CONT.
9.Tractor Safety:
• Tractors must have a Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS) or ROPS cap. If fitted with a seatbelt, it must be worn at all times to prevent falls that could lead to crushing injuries or death.
• If the ROPS is fold able, ensure it remains in the “locked up” position during operation.
10.Check chains, shackles, deflectors, and other components for damage before use. Replace any damaged parts immediately.
11.Verify that the implement is securely and correctly attached, adjusted, and in good working condition before operation.
12.At least 20% of the tractor and implement's combined weight must rest on the front wheels when the implement is in transport mode. Use front-end weights, ballast, or tire weights as needed, but do not exceed the maximum ballasted mass specified for the ROPS. Accurately weigh the equipment rather than estimating.
13.Be cautious of hidden hazards like stones, branches, or uneven ground. Clear the area of foreign objects to prevent injury or equipment damage.
14.Work Area Safety:
• When operating in populated areas, post warning signs and halt operations if anyone comes within 10 meters.
• Keep people and animals at a safe distance during startup, operation, and shutdown.
Safety Precautions
1.Operator Restrictions: Do not permit children or untrained individuals to operate the equipment.
2.Keep People and Animals Safe: Ensure that all people and animals remain at a safe distance from the implement during startup, operation, and shutdown.
3.Avoid Going Beneath the Equipment: Never place any part of your body under the implement or between moving parts, even when the engine is off. Hydraulic systems may fail or slowly lower unexpectedly, causing severe injury or death. Follow the Operator’s Manual instructions, and when needed, have service performed by a qualified dealer.
Operational Best Practices
1.Proper Lighting: Only use the equipment in daylight or with sufficient artificial lighting.
2.Stay Clear of Moving Parts: Keep your hands, feet, hair, and clothing away from moving machinery components while the engine is running.
3.Transport Safety: When transporting equipment on public roads, ensure compliance with all government regulations and traffic laws.
4.Reverse with Caution: Before reversing, check the area behind you to ensure it is clear and safe.
5.Slope Safety:
• Avoid operating on steep slopes. If necessary, widen the rear axles for better stability.
• When working on slopes, move up and down rather than across. Avoid sudden stops, starts, or direction changes.
• Use reduced speeds and extra caution on rough or uneven terrain.
6. Stop When Striking an Obstacle: If the equipment hits an obstruction, stop immediately, shut off the engine, remove the key, and inspect for damage. Repair any issues before resuming operation.
7. Safe Maintenance Practices:
• Before performing any maintenance, lower the equipment to the ground or secure it with robust supports, release hydraulic pressure, shut off the engine, engage the parking brake, remove the key, and wait for all moving parts to stop.
• Never place body parts under raised implements or between movable parts. Hydraulic systems can fail or creep, causing unexpected movement.
• During maintenance, keep the tractor key with you to prevent accidental activation by others.
Additional Precautions
1. Use Genuine Parts: Only use original replacement parts to ensure safe operation and maintain warranty coverage.
2. Storage Safety: Block implements securely for storage, and keep children and bystanders away from storage areas.
3. Operator Responsibility: Safety starts with the operator. Proper training and a cautious, informed approach are the best tools to prevent accident
INTENDED USES
Pasture Chain Harrow are designed for tasks such as:
• Breaking up and spreading manure.
• Smoothing and leveling freshly cultivated soil.
• Incorporating seeds and fertilizers into the ground.
• Grooming dirt tracks.
• Dethatching and aerating grass.
By following these safety and operational guidelines, you can ensure a safer and more efficient use of your equipment. Hustler Equipment is not liable for injuries or damages resulting from failure to adhere to these instructions or safety decals.
OPERATION
1. Transporting Mounted Harrows: Always ensure that “mounted” harrows are fully raised when transporting or traveling between job sites.
2. Avoid Dragging on Hard Surfaces: Never drag harrows on paved or concrete surfaces. Instead, fold them up and carry them. For long distance transport, load the harrows onto a trailer, secure them properly, and ensure they are safe for travel.
3. Inspect the Worksite: Before starting operations, visually inspect the site to ensure it is clear of foreign objects. Mark any fixed hazards, such as irrigation heads or utility outlets, which cannot be moved but could cause damage or injury.
4. Maintain Safe Speeds: Operate the equipment at a safe speed appropriate for your environment. Reduce speed when cornering and avoid dragging harrows at high speeds, as slower speeds provide a finer finish and the equipment will last longer.
5. Maintain Clearance Around Obstacles: Always leave sufficient space around fixed objects, including fences, trees, posts, and buildings, to prevent collisions.
OPERATION CONT.
Attaching to the Implement
1. Secure Connections:
• Use the supplied hitch pins to attach the implement to the tractor's lower link arms and secure them with lynch pins.
• Connect the tractor's top link to the implement's top clevis using the top hitch pin, ensuring it is secured with a lynch pin.
2. Safety During Connection:
• Never stand between the tractor and the implement when connecting.
• Always find a level or flat surface for attaching the implement.
• Clean the hydraulic connectors and couple to tractors hydraulic banks
3. Adjust Anti-Sway Devices: Properly adjust the tractor's lower linkage arms anti-sway devices to prevent the implement from swinging during transport or operation. Failure to do so can cause severe damage or injury.
4. Safety Before Dismounting or Maintenance:
• Lower the 3-point linkage and any raised components to the ground.
• Release hydraulic pressure by operating valve levers, stop the engine, set the parking brake, remove the key, and unfasten the seat belt (if installed).
5. Prevent Accidental Startup: During checks, repairs, or adjustments, ensure no one can accidentally start the tractor or implement. Always keep the tractor key in your pocket.
Adjustments
1.The Chain Harrows have two positions for the top-link to mount. Fixed hole for transport. Extended slot for working undulating ground.
2.Hydraulic Chain Harrow Maintenance: Regularly inspect hydraulic hoses for leaks or damage, and repair or replace them as needed. Always follow the safety guidelines outlined in the manual.
Important Operational Guidelines
1.Hardware Checks:
• Vibration during operation can loosen bolts. Check and secure all hardware before each use.
2.Avoid Steep Slopes:
• Do not operate on steep inclines.
• Avoid sudden stops, starts, or direction changes on slopes.
• Use extreme caution and reduce speed on slopes and rough terrain.
3.Hidden Hazards: Stay vigilant for hidden obstacles in the terrain that could cause damage or injury during operation.
4.Navigating Dips and Drops: Cross sharp dips diagonally and avoid sharp drops to prevent damage to the implement and maintain operator safety.
