14 GREAT LAUNDRY TIPS
A collection of our best laundry tips before and after washing to maintain your garment's fit, extend its lifespan and reduce resource consumption.
General laundry tips
1. Avoid unnecessary washing
Wear your clothes one more time. Avoid unnecessary washing that wears out clothes and thus shortens their lifespan.
Advice before washing
2. Air out the clothing
Feel free to air out your clothes instead of washing them, if they are not dirty, then they will last longer.
5. Sorting
Wash the clothes with similar colours to avoid bleeding of colours in the washing machine.
6. Turn inside out
Turn clothes inside out. Close zippers and buttons when washing or tumble drying to keep clothes longer.
3. Check the care label in your clothing
The care label indicates how the clothes are best cared for, washed and dried to preserve their quality and lifespan.
9. Avoid the following Bleach, optical brighteners and fabric softener.
After washing
11. Maintain shape
After washing, stretch the clothing into shape before drying it, and it will keep its shape better and shrink less, so you can use the clothes longer.
10. Lower washing temperature
Turn down the temperature when washing. The washing instructions in the clothes merely indicate a max. temperature.
7. Choose the right detergent
Choose eco-labelled detergent as it is economical in use and beneficial for both the clothing and the environment.
4. Fill the washing machine
Fill the washing machine as much as possible and minimise the use of water, electricity and detergent.
12. Use the clothesline
It requires less energy consumption and you avoid the clothes shrinking after a round in the dryer.
13. Ironing
Always follow the ironing symbols in the care label located on the inside of your clothing.
8. Dosage
Dose detergent correctly and according to water hardness. Too much washing powder does not make clothes cleaner, but leaves soap residue in clothes.
14. Clean the washing machine
Clean the washing machine and rubber strips after each wash, remove old soap from the soap drawer and run a hot wash monthly to avoid bad odours.

The EU Ecolabel is your guarantee that clothing bearing the EU Ecolabel impacts the environment as little as possible, and ensures that the clothing does not contain pesticide residues and other environmentally harmful chemicals, that eco-friendly dyes have been used and that waste water is handled responsibly
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® , Annex 4, product class 2
OEKO-TEX® ensures that the product complies with the limit values for the content of substances harmful to health. OEKO-TEX® is one of the world’s leading labels for textile products that have been tested for substances harmful to health and the environment. Clothing marked with STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is subject to requirements regarding pH value and the content of, for example, pesticides and heavy metals in the clothing.

ID® has a large selection of STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified products as well as STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, annex 6, product class 1, which imposes even stricter requirements on the clothing’s content of substances harmful to health and the environment.

OEKO-TEX® is your guarantee that the garment does not contain harmful substances. STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® concerns organic products. This means that you are guaranteed that the cotton is organic, as well as GMO-free. That is, the cotton is made without the use of genetic engineering and is verified by third-party testing.

BIONIC-FINISH® ECO is a fluorine-free water-repellent surface (DWR). The surface is made with dendrimer technology which is based on a non-halogenated, APEOfree and fluorine-free formula. This means that the final product is more efficient and resistant to water.
Recycled fibre is fibre produced from recycled waste materials. The waste materials are collected, sorted, and broken down to a stage where they can be reused as fibre. The fibres consist of 100% recycled fibres or are blended with new fibres, which are then spun into yarns that are either woven or knitted into new textiles. The reuse of fibres helps to minimise the need to produce new raw materials.
