The Emergency Services Training Centre (ESTC) in Blyth, Ontario has become a model for fire, emergency response and corporate training in Ontario. This course is for new and existing Fire Prevention Officers/Inspectors, Fire Chiefs, and Firefighters with interests in building life safety systems, Fire Protection students, Fire Protection trades, those individuals responsible for code application and those who are looking at the Fire Service for a career. This course will develop their knowledge of the application of Part 6 of the Ontario Fire Code.

This 3 day (20 hrs) in-depth course will cover: * FPPA legislative authority to conduct inspections, in relation to Part 6, * Introduction to the Ontario Building Code (Part 3), occupancies and classifications, * Identify building classifications, occupancies and identify building construction methods, * An in-depth analysis of Part 6 of the Fire Code including; Portable Fire Extinguishers, Alarm and Voice Communication systems for Life Safety, Standpipe and Hose Systems, Sprinkler Systems, Water Supplies for Fire Protection, Emergency Power Systems, and Special Fire Suppression Systems, including Commercial Cooking Equipment, * Differentiate between checking, inspection and testing, * Required documentation (S-536, verifications, etc) * Case studies and practical in class components in

conducting and inspection of systems, * What should be addressed at the Plans Review stage, * Required installation, responsibility and enforcement of life safety systems.

Ontario Fire College - NFPA 1021 Fire Officer 1 Course Dates: October 28-November 1, 2015Week 1 November 25-29,2015 - Week 2 In-class Session: 10 days Cost: $459.00 (includes lunch each day) This course provides the current Fire Officer and aspiring officers timely information that aids in their daily performance as a company officer. Topics covered include Fire Officer roles and responsibilities including administration, accountability, cultural diversity, health and safety, human resource management, public relations, functional leadership,incident command, inspection and investigation, budgeting process,

basic strategic planning, basic strategy and tactics.

Fire officer Level 1 is intended for the front line Fire Officer with a supervisory role, is delivered in a classroom environment, and meets NFPA 1021-2009 Edition. Arrangements will be made for students to take the Academic Standards and Evaluation Section exam at the ESTC upon completion of this program.

Fire Service - Combustion and Carbon Monoxide Awareness Training Course Date: December 5, 2015 Cost: $150.00 includes lunch There are more misunderstandings, half truths and myths associated with carbon monoxide (c.o.) than any other natural poison.

It is estimated that there are at least one third more deaths related to CO every year than ever reported - “He had a heart attack.”

Unfortunately we continue to be told and teach the same misleading information.

Our Carbon Monoxide Awareness Program is unique in every way; * Our training style, experiments and terminology make it easy to understand c.o. and that promotes the ability to adapt to varying situations and enhances retention of the information. * The program relates to the ‘practical application’ of c.o. and other deadly gases. * The explanations and demonstrations relate to actual c.o. incidents that have resulted in over 20 deaths. * We create significant amounts of c.o., using various methods right in class. * Our focus is on UNDERSTANDING. ANSWERS promote ‘straight line’ thinking and ‘short term’ solutions.

UNDERSTANDING allows the student to pinpoint the actual cause, not merely the symptom.

each for Success is an employability through work experience program, funded by the Federal Government Skills Link Program, to help youth overcome barriers to employment.

Who Is Eligible?

Youth can access Reach for Success if they are:  Between 15 and 30 years of age;  Out of school and in need of assistance to gain workplace skills and experience;  Legally entitled to work in Canada.

What Are The Benefits To Youth?  30 hour per week 4 week paid Group Employability Skills workshop series;  24 hour per week 8 week paid job placement with a local employer;  Participants will be paid the equivalent to the Ontario Minimum wage;  Develop life skills, employability skills, job search skills, career decision making abilities and job maintenance skills;  Opportunity to obtain the following certification: First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling, WHMIS, Smart Serve.

What Are The Benefits To Employers?  Wage reimbursement for 8 weeks, 24 hours per week placement at the minimum wage rate;  Participants apply what they learn in workshops to their work experience.
