To the Class of 2020, Months ago we never could have dreamed of the day where a pandemic stole our prom, graduation, and final days of high school. We have been resilient in the face of tragedy. We were the class after 9/11, and now we graduate through a pandemic. We are strong, we are loved, and we are going to do great things.

Funny/Embarassing Moments Tearing ligaments in my ankle by playing basketball during lacrosse practice -Katie Ambrogio Falling flat on my face after slipping during our tap dance rehearsal for Anything Goes. -Melissa Bala Playing soccer in gym class and wiping out in front of the whole class when trying to dribble the ball (senior year) -Megan Bargiel The day I played Uno for 6 blended periods in a row. -Cameron Bentley Falling in the stairs face first and dropping my phone and then having the kid behind me fall too.

Funny/Embarassing Moments A kid in my math class said that he would be the next Donald Trump.

-Thais Fields My second day of high school I tripped UP the stairs during a passing period. Scarred. -Allison Galante Messing up pronunciation of words EVERY DAY on the morning announcements.

-Kateleen Gellangarin During a robotics tournament, my team’s robot broke a judge’s clipboard nearly in half. The only thing holding it together was the metal clip. We got to keep it. -Jacob Goodman Honestly, probably when I got my concussion during my softball game. I was playing first and i got pulled off the bag and the runner ran into me. I basically flipped on my head and laid there. -Micah Goodrich When I said that Mr. Rago looked like “Mr. Worldwide” at an assembly.

-Mags Gordon In my freshmen bio class I got so nervous doing a presentation I made a Trump joke without thinking, but I got an A+ and everyone laughed for like two minutes. -Jen Gordus There’s two. The funniest/most embarrassing moment I had in the last four years was falling down the stairwell in front of my friends and my teacher.

Senior Issue I couldn’t see walking out of school.

Next thing is I almost fell into the bushes because I couldn’t see. -Emma Mahon I will never forget when I was at the library with Mr. Allen and Mr. Thornley and I was yelling at Mr. Allen and then Mr. Thornley said “Sammy! We are in a library!!” and then we all laughed.

-Sammy Martell Definitely my senior Homecoming.

-Jennifer Martino Funniest moment that comes to mind now is on the Chestnut trip when a bunch of us got out of the hot tub and lay down on the cold snowy ground, and then ran back inside. -Annika McNeal I remember it was snowing one day and I was walking in the hallway with my friends. The floors were slick due to the snow and I slipped and landed on my butt. My friends started laughing with me. -Rachel Meister All of the pep assemblies were the most fun! -Karly Melendy When I was walking down the hall and my earbuds connected to my phone got caught on some freshman’s bag and they both got thrown across the hall. -Riley Murphy My best friend and I hiding an egg in our science teacher’s classroom.

- Gianna Nardulli My most embarrassing moment was in a Taco Bell drive thru with Alyssa Sullivan. The worker and I kept on cutting each other off, or kept on saying sorry, and it was just a really awkward situation because there was a long pause.

The funniest moments have probably been with my friends. I can’t pick any specific moment but whenever I’m with them usually we are laughing. Jessica Parker When I got over 76k views on a tik tok and the next day at school, everyone was saying I was on their FYP. -Rachel Pepke My whole group thought we were blended and we went up to turn in our work and walked in on our class working in groups. We were not blended. Everyone stared. -Julia Perrone I was in Mrs. Corapi’s class after school and showed them and Mady how I could walk like Steve in Minecraft.

-Cameryn Piskule My funniest moment came 2 years ago when I tripped when I was walking up the stairs during the Math Team walk through the hallway. -Manas Polavarapu Any time I sang in Spanish 2 honors was embarrassing. -Tommy Taylor My funniest moment would be my truck breaking down in front of the school and having to push it to the side of the road, causing major traffic.

A Letter from Dr. Belin Dear Class of 2020, In a time of confusion, worry, fear, and many other emotions that have taken over our daily lives, we are faced with the question of “What next?” Who would have thought that this year would take a major turn and rip away the very moments and memories we were all hoping to make, celebrations, and monumental moments we were expecting to have? Well, here we are?

A pandemic has rocked the entire world to its core. This is history! You are authors of history and you have the ability to inform and change the future.

You are a generation of fighters and change-makers. You are have been a beacon of light when the world has trembled. The focus in the past few months has been ON the Class of 2020 and the high level of resiliency you all have possessed during this time. I understand that we will never be able to replace the events such as prom, a senior prank, the senior run, the walk through the middle schools, senior awards, or traditional graduation. I want to give you all those things and more. So do your teachers who have prepared you for what lies ahead. So do your parents who have watched you grow into the people you have become today. We have to accept the obstacles we have been faced with and prepare for what the future holds.

You will remember the experiences of the last few months such as shortages of toilet paper, bottled water, hand sanitizer, and Clorox wipes.

We have now coined the term “social distancing” and “worldwide pandemic” to become a part of our everyday references to this time.

Who would have thought that these words would be the end of the journey you have made from kindergarten through senior year of high school.

Regardless of what major shifts we have made in our everyday lives, we have to remain optimistic. The future depends of it. It depends on YOU! The one thing this pandemic has taught me, and I hope it has taught you as well, is to not wait for what lies ahead. You have to take every opportunity that comes your way. Mark Zuckerberg once said, “In a world that changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks.” You have to be aggressive in life and put yourself in the best position to succeed. Challenge yourself. Be a calculated risk-taker and do what you never thought you could. You are built for this. You are built to change the world through the opportunities that allow you. Knowing that the future is never promised, will you wait?

I speak for all the educators that you have encountered. We have watched you grow into the phenomenal men and women that you are today.

As the Red Raider Family, we can take pride in the accomplishments you have achieved. We have seen you struggle, we have seen you succeed, we have been there with a supportive shoulder or with the loudest hand clap. I hope that you know your teachers are always here to support you and cheer you on. Never doubt the support of the HHS staff and the greater staff of District 158. Your time is NOW! I am proud of you!

I LOVE YOU and CARE ABOUT YOU! I am excited about your future. Know that home will always be at Huntley High School. You are and will ALWAYS be a Huntley Red Raider!!
