A client-driven interior designer with proven experience designing high performing corporate workplace, retail, and coworking spaces; I am passionate about design excellence and exceeding client expectations with innovative solutions for complex and fast-paced projects. With much of my career spent supporting national clients including Bank of America, Clorox, and other leading companies, I excel at interpreting, implementing, and iterating upon design guidelines and standards and delivering out-of-the-box solutions to unique problems, and am well-versed in the complexities brought about by working in jurisdictions across the US, including performing code research and remote coordination with clients and contractors. With enthusiasm for both the creative and technical aspects of the profession, I am proficient at mentoring junior designers, performing QA/QC reviews, and seeking out efficiencies and process improvements wherever possible. Wearing dual hats as the design and production lead for many projects, I bring a strong conceptual sensibility paired with the technical skills required to accurately document and communicate design elements to end users, code officials, and contractors.

Outside of work you can find me in the backyard with my dogs, trying out a new recipe in the kitchen, or listening to a true-crime podcast. A native of coastal North Carolina, I have a soft spot for the ocean, historic buildings, and good bbq.

Industrious

A national co-working and flexible office leader, Industrious provides world-class office space to startups, Fortune 500 companies, and everything in between. Working as Design Manager and Interior Designer for a core team dedicated to serving this client as they rapidly expand throughout the US, I worked under limited supervision by a Senior Project Manager and Design Director as the design and production lead for interiors projects averaging 25,000 - 50,000 SF in size from the initial test fitting phase, to schematic design and design development, through construction documents, contract administration, and project close out.

More broadly, my role included design oversight for the account as a whole, working as a creative lead for all design teams serving this client to ensure cohesion between projects, provide guidance and oversight to more junior teammates, and maintain adherence to the client’s brand image and design guidelines as well as internal best practices.

Scope Role

Raleigh, NC 26,000 SF Workplace Interior Design / Production Lead

Given a large floorplate in a landmark building in downtown Raleigh, our team set out to create a world class co-working experience. Using the existing long, narrow elevator lobby as a starting point, the concept for this design focused on the use of contrast and depth to drive movement through the space. Repeated arched forms contrast the rectilinear architecture of the building, and inject a bit of hospitality design sensibility to soften the edges of this work place.

My role on this project began with space planning based on the client’s typical programming requirements, before layering in custom design elements to give the space an identity of its own.

After working through the SD and DD phases, I then assumed primary responsibility for CD production, overseeing a team of two designers, and led CA, including construction phase site visits and submittal/RFI coordination.

Austin, TX 31,000 SF Workplace Interior Design / Production Lead

Taking cues from the rich culture of Austin and the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country, the awardwinning design of this premium coworking space reflects the unique, free-spirited attitude embodied by the city’s unofficial motto: “Keep Austin Weird,” as well as the client’s established reputation for approachable, elevated design. These elements were distilled into the project concept: Offbeat Authenticity. Using contrasting layers of materials and textures, the central gathering spaces on each of the 3 floors welcome users into an environment that feels lived-in and genuine. In the office space, a light base color palette, exposed ceilings, and sleek black trim provide a streamlined aesthetic allowing tenants to layer in their own touches, while natural materials, simple patterns, and statement light fixtures lend an artisanal, curated quality to the Café and Lounge spaces that encourages gathering and connecting.

As project designer, I coordinated all phases of design, starting at test fitting and concluding with overseeing professional photography of the finished space.

Anchored by a monumental stair connecting its two levels, this project in the trendy Pike & Rose development outside of Washington, DC, featured a limited architectural color palette, providing a clean slate onto which bolder furniture and art selections could be layered. Responding to the client’s request for a semienclosed stair, we developed a metal screen with mixed clear and fluted architectural glass spanning both floors. The open-riser stair links the two primary amenity spaces of the suite and creates an unforgettable focal point to greet guests and employees alike, while sculptural light fixtures and mixed-material accents elsewhere in the space create a cohesive design that wows at every turn. In my role as lead designer, I worked closely with the client to develop a concept that fit their vision for the space, and led the creative and technical development of the project, including the design and detailing of the new internal stair.

Sky Zone

Quickly becoming a household name, this innovative indoor adventure park brand elevates the typical trampoline park image to provide an unparalleled guest experience. As their preferred architect, our team partnered with both Sky Zone’s in-house corporate design & construction team and local franchisees to support the brand’s expansion into new markets.

As the lead project designer and primary client-facing contact for the account, I worked on projects in existing and new buildings averaging 30,000 SF within the United States and internationally. Acting as the account lead, I held the primary relationship with the client and was responsible for responding to RFPs and developing proposals based on our standard scope of services, reviewing projects for adherence to the client’s design guidelines and acting as the studio’s subject matter expert for this unique project type.

Design / Production Lead, CoProject Manager

Envisioned as the gold-standard of Sky Zone parks, this project was the culmination of over a year of development of the brand’s Version 2.0 design vision. Partnering closely with Sky Zone’s internal design and construction group, our team refined and iterated upon these guidelines to create a prototypical design to guide the next generation of parks in the franchise. Beyond implementing Sky Zone’s concept for the space, we created details, specifications, and prototypical layouts to be used for this and future projects, and a companion design guidelines manual targeted at architects, franchise owners, and vendors alike.

For this project I led design and CD production, and during the construction phase took over full responsibility for management of the project, including tracking monthly invoicing, client management, and coordinating approval of pay apps and submittals.

Scope Role

Guidelines Documentation Guidelines Development, Graphic Design

As Sky Zone’s preferred architect, our firm was approached to document and refine the brand’s new park design guidelines as a reference guide for franchisees, outside architects, and Sky Zone itself. Partnering with Sky Zone’s internal design team and other shareholders (Real Estate, New Park Development, etc.), we collated the existing information, specifications, and sample projects that loosely comprised their design guidelines and filled the gaps in-between. This data was packaged into a live pdf document designed in line with Sky Zone’s established brand image. Additional deliverables included a prototypical construction drawing set and a framework for design assessments for use by the internal Sky Zone team in reviewing and approving contract documents for franchised parks.

As the studio’s lead designer for this account, I was responsible for the development and documentation of the guidelines, meetings with the client, and led the design and creation of the guidelines manual and supporting documents.

Exterior

PROTOTYPE EXTERIOR DESIGN

The building exterior serves as a billboard and provides the first impression of the brand. Of all design elements, getting the exterior image correct is the most important. Every building will be different, however, so design flexibility will be necessary. Leverage the prototype image as the benchmark for overall design intent. In certain situations, given building conditions or local or landlord regulations, our preferred image will not be achievable. Use the following “kit-of-parts” in conjunction with the Future Park Signage Package to get as much as we can.

In order of priority (see diagram, right): 1. Internally-illuminated Sky Zone sign (SG-1)

A large glass entry (clear glass)

Orange (PT-12) canopy or awning (a fabric awning matching PT-12 is acceptable if required by the Landlord, local ordinances, etc.) 4. Blue (PT-13) portal/surround frame

Black (PT-11) corrugated wall paneling 6. Window graphic (SG-2/SG-2b) 7. Gray (PT-10) walls

In certain instances, if approved by Home Zone, appropriately-colored paint may substituted for the actual element (see Page 12).

Window graphics may be perforated if applied on clear glass, or solid and externally illuminated if applied on spandrel glass.

Provide an abundance of entry area and front façade lighting. The entrance shall be accessible per ADA or local code guidelines (whichever is more stringent).

Home Zone reserves the right to review proposed exterior designs for conformance with the brand image design intent. Issued: February

PARK ZONES

Entrance

Certain building layouts or sites necessitate a corner entrance configuration. While a greeter is present front-and-center to the entrance itself this configuration, it is all the more important appropriate circulation space be provided and that typical, clear functional sequence is maintained. attractions such as Free Climb and Sky Climb become focal points upon entrance and serve to draw the in, thus clear sight lines to these attractions are critical.

One potential advantage of the corner depending on the building’s orientation on the is the opportunity to provide entrance exposure signage and graphics) in two directions. This can done effectively through the use of a “tower” design incorporating multiple branding elements (seen above).

The Prototype Drawings depict a corner configuration.

Scope Role

3,000 SF Design Intent Package

Project Manager, Design Lead

Working alongside Sky Zone’s internal design team and Carnival Cruise Line, our team was tasked with designing the brand’s first ever adventure park atsea. My role was to bridge the gap between the brand’s established design guidelines and the unique requirements of a maritime environment to deliver a Design Development package providing concrete design intent for implementation by the shipbuilder. To this end, I led my team in selecting a finish palette equivalent to Sky Zone’s typical specifications that complied with International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Carnival Cruise Line requirements, developed new construction and millwork details to adapt the brand’s design image for this unique environment, and provided architectural design intent drawings including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and details. As the project manager and design lead, I oversaw production by a small team of designers, acted as the main point of contact with the client, and assumed final responsibility for QA/QC and overseeing the financial components of the project including proposals, invoices, and project planning.

Scope Role

Pineville, NC 30,000 SF Exterior/Interior Renovation Production Lead

A long-standing franchisee of this well-known home furnishing brand approached our team to refresh their existing showroom outside of Charlotte, NC. Working with the franchisee team and Ashley’s corporate design team, we implemented the furniture company’s design guidelines to update the showroom interior to their newest design standard, with scope including finishes, lighting, millwork, and associated MEP elements. The scope additionally included a much-needed facade upgrade. Using Ashley’s exterior design guidelines as a starting point, we partnered with the Town of Pineville’s Planning and Zoning Department to craft a design that would meet the town’s stringent exterior design requirements while still embodying the client’s brand image and staying within their modest budget. In my role as project designer, I was responsible for all CD production, design presentations, and coordination with the client team.

Anthem Experience Ctr.

ACTIVATION OBJECTIVE

ACTIVATION STORYLINE

Feature the best-in-class Anthem experience for members, employers and providers by highlighting the combination of people and technology (Current State).

ACTIVATION SPACE

Guests will engage with content through a vast, cornerwrapped video wall.

TECHNOLOGY

A showcase space for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s midtown Atlanta technology center, the Anthem Experience Center is an engagement space for the insurance provider’s executive clients. Partnering with experience design firm Dimensional Innovations, who provided schematic design and techology integration for this project, our task was to adapt their concept into a fully-realized and buildable design.

Upon approach, programmable lights adjust overhead, defining the space. The docent activates the immersive video wall and see-through touch screen displays via the tablet, and invites guests to make content selections with wave of a hand at the gesture control podium.

Comfortable and flexible seating

As project designer, I led the drafting of construction documents for the space as well as research and selection of finishes, products, and lighting based on the client’s schematic design and renderings. A focal point of this space was the expansive curved ceiling installation, envisioned as a guide to escort guests through the Anthem Experience. My role also included extensive coordination with engineers and consultants for this technology-heavy space, including elements such as DMX-controlled LED lighting integrated within the ceiling and multi-faceted large scale media displays.

Tarkett Showroom

Charlotte, NC

Scope Role

2,500 SF Interior Upfit

Design / Production Lead

International floor and wallcovering manufacturer Tarkett tasked our team with designing their first showroom space in the Carolinas. Asked to create a flexible space that could be used for sample and catalog storage, product display, and event space within a 2,500 SF footprint in Charlotte’s trendy South End neighborhood, our solution included a 40-foot long millwork installation that doubled as storage and showcase piece, an open concept pantry for employee and client use alike, and a custom feature wall comprised of Tarkett wall base products combined into an installation piece. Working alongside the Project Manager and Technical Director, I led the design effort for this project, working directly with the client starting with programming and schematic planning, continuing to lighting and finish selection in design development and production of construction drawings, and concluding with extensive construction phase coordination and direction of the photography of the finished space.
