STUDENT COMMITMENT

Here’s our commitment to you.

WE WILL:

Give you a great learning experience, no matter how you learn

Whether you are learning in-person or online, your courses will cover key learning outcomes of your program and will help you build on your knowledge and integrate your education into your professional and personal life, preparing you for the next step in your educational journey if you choose to pursue Humber's many pathway options. Your professors have designed your courses with activities and tasks that inspire thinking and creative applied learning experiences.

All courses are based on a common set of design principles to ensure consistency and equity of access. We will also ensure that information about your courses and program is easily available. Help keep you connected

You can expect opportunities for meaningful interactions with your professors, Humber staff and your classmates. Your professors will connect regularly with you and you will have opportunities to collaborate with other students. Our student success team is available to help you navigate our services and supports, or just to chat about how you are doing.

We will provide you with clear, transparent and timely communications through conversations, emails and our social media channels.

Foster an environment of wellness, kindness and inclusion

We know that every student at Humber has their own story to tell and their own set of unique circumstances. We will work to understand your needs and to connect you with the right supports.

We will continue to expect that all members of our community interact in respectful ways that support Humber’s commitment to equity and diversity.

Do our best to be flexible

As things continue to evolve, we will all need to adjust and adapt. We know that in needing to adapt quickly and in trying out new approaches, we will likely make some mistakes. When that happens, we will acknowledge them, learn from them and work together to fix them.

We will continue to seek out your feedback and keep you informed of any impacts on your studies or our services.

Teaching and Learning Online

The world can change quickly, but no matter what happens, we remain committed to our students, our mandate and our values. At Humber, these commitments guide us in all that we do.

With health and safety top of mind, Humber has continued to offer both in-person and online learning for students. We continue to prioritize hands-on learning and finding new ways to ensure our students get this invaluable experience.

Work-integrated learning remains to be an important part of our program delivery. Each program has its own approach to incorporating these activities whether through field and clinical placements or industry-based projects.

Quality learning experiences and exceptional supports are foundational to a Humber education, whether it is delivered online or in-person.

Online learning at Humber uses the Internet, digital classroom platforms and different types of software. Online courses are designed by Humber faculty using a common set of design principles: simplicity, usability and accessibility.

Humber is committed to giving you a great online learning experience.

The digital classroom allows students to:

• interact and collaborate with their peers

• contribute to class dialogue

• learn various ways to create digital content

• make connections outside of the classroom

• leverage a degree of self-paced learning

• develop your digital fluency skills

A variety of resources and supports, including humberonline.ca, are available to guide and support students in their online courses.

At the time of this publication, we intend to deliver all programs as advertised (or indicated) for the 2022–2023 academic year. As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, we may need to alter our 2022–2023 plans to follow the guidance of public health agencies and keep our community safe.
