Continuing Students – Accommodation for 2016/17 Information for continuing students wishing to apply for a place in university owned halls, student houses or for University Leased Accommodation.

(The Postgraduate application process is only for those students requiring accommodation for the FULL academic year 2016-2017 and is not for those wishing to extend their stay by a few weeks to ‘write up’ their dissertation ) PLEASE NOTE: Due to essential maintenance works, Student Houses reserved for use by Postgraduate students will be located on Cranbrook Avenue.

Please see the information below regarding types of accommodation available: The University has places available to offer to continuing students for Session 2016/17 and we welcome applications from individuals or friendship groups. Applications will be dealt with on a first come first served basis. If applications exceed the number of places available, applicants will be notified and given the option to be placed on a waiting list.

FROZEN FEES! If you accept a place within The Lawns, Thwaite Hall, Taylor Court and the Student Houses you will be charged the advertised 2015/16 weekly fee for the type of accommodation accepted over the full contract period.

31 Weeks fully catered 6 Weeks self catered ( 3weeks at Christmas, 3 weeks at Easter) Includes a FREE Bus Pass THE LAWNS (37 Weeks) (Excludes Nicholson Hall & the Bungalows) 31 Weeks Semi-catered (evening meal) 6 weeks self-catered (3 weeks at Christmas, 3 weeks at Easter) Includes a FREE Bus Pass NICHOLSON HALL AND THE BUNGALOWS (37 Weeks) 37 Weeks Self-Catered Includes a FREE Bus Pass

2. STUDENT HOUSES – (42 Weeks) Self catered accommodation, owned by the university.

Most of the houses are for five people and have shared facilities.

Houses ideally suited for students with high amount of course commitments, for example nursing, drama, primary school teaching and medical students.

3. NEW ON CAMPUS RESIDENCES - Brand New for 2016!

Varying contract lengths and residence fees Accommodation contracts will commence on Saturday 24 September 2016 All rooms en-suite All standard and deluxe rooms are provided with 4ft beds Studio apartments are provided with 4ft 6 beds and offer outdoor living space with impressive city views.

Contract lengths in the new residences will operate as follows: 34 weeks - Sat 24th September 2016– 2nd April (incl) and 23rd April – Sunday 11th June 2017 (inclusive) (for this contract length the halls will close over the Easter Break and all belongings must be removed at this time. (No exceptions) 37 Weeks – Sat 24th September 2016 – 11th June 2017 (inclusive) 41 Weeks – Sat 24th September 2016 - 7th July 2017 (inclusive) 49 Weeks - Sat 24th September 2016 - 1st September 2017 (inclusive) Residence Fees: Standard En Suite £125.00 per week Deluxe En Suite £137.50 per week 1 Bed roof top terrace apartment - Exact price to be confirmed. Expected to be no more than £180 per week.

Continuing students have a number of places reserved for their use across the University’s portfolio of accommodation.

Demand for a particular type of accommodation may however exceed supply. Please provide an alternative choice of accommodation.

4. UNIVERSITY LEASED ACCOMMODATION - 46 WEEKS Prices are not frozen for University Leased accommodation properties and new 2016/2017 fees will be applied Ideal for groups of friends, located within a mile of the university. The properties are owned by private landlords but managed by the University’s Accommodation Office. So, in the event of any problems you have the support and backing of the University.
