Myeyeshave seenthusfar,aflavourfulworld,fullofGod’screationsofhillsandvalleys,birdsandbees, floraandfaunaandbeautifulpeople.Thescarsonmyskinareareflectionofmytom-boyishchildhood days.Playingbarefootfootball,andcricketintheroad,tree-climbingandriverboatrowing,Growingupin aMiningTown,therewasnaturallymuchbauxiteandaluminumdustsflewinmyeyes,notenoughto cloudthemandpreventedmefromseeingthecreativethingsandpeoplearoundme.Mychoicesof imagesatourshow,trulyconveymycolourfulCaribbeanbackgroundandIamgratefulforthepathGod chooseforme. TheCovid-19 two-yearpandemicshutdownconfirmedtomethatdeeppowerofbelievingthatIcando thingsbeyondmycomfortzoneandexcel.Asacreativeperson,themomentsofflowandecstasyraged throughmyskin,asart,craft,musicanddramawerefightingtoletgoandgetout.ReadingCaribbean bookslike‘TheCastleofMySkin’,byauthorGeorgeLammingandthoseofV.SNaipaulandSamuel Selvon,setmeinthemoodtoappreciateCaribbeanlifeevenmore.Myphotographyandpainting interestshaveevolvedandreflectmypsychedelicexposure.Ihopeyoufindsomethingthatappealsto youtotheextentthatyouwanttotakeithomeintoyourspace.
AUDREYBRYAN Myinterestsin drawingandphotographystartedasachild.Idrew andmadegreetingcardsforsaleonorder.ThistalentevolvedwhenI pursueditattheGCElevelandfollowedthroughundertheguidanceof Artist,Mrs.IndraniWhittingham,whointroducedmetooilpaintingand ArtistMrs.TraceyWilliamswhointroducedmetoacrylic.Mycuriosity infilmdevelopmentpropelledmetojointhePhotographyClubatthe BarbadosCommunityCollege,whenIwasexposedtodevelopingfilms fromnegatives.MyinterestfurtherdevelopedwhenImovedtodigital andjoinedtheBarbadosPhotographicSocietyandlearntthroughthe manyeducationalprogramspresentedtoclubmembers.In2016I mademyfirststeptoexhibitmypiecespubliclyafterjoiningtheEn Plein(PlainAir)fieldtripsorganizedbytheNationalCultural FoundationundertheguidanceofArtist,Mr.NevilleLegall.
