It’s March, we are 9 games away from the finish line and we welcome you back to The Continental Pilot Field for today’s fixture vs Corinthian.
Firstly, I would like to welcome all the travelling supporters, players, staff and committee of Corinthian, when we travelled to Corinthian earlier in the season we was certainly in a different position than we are in now. It was just after the departure of Chris and we was finding our feet and where we was and what we needed to do. A disappointing result on the day didn’t make me feel any different about our coaching team and what we could achieve.
Appointing Gary, sticking by Browny and the rest of the coaching staff with the addition of Jon Meeney has paid dividends so far and what a remarkable turnaround from that point. Kudos once again to the team in doing so, our destiny is in our hands and that’s the way we like it.
Last week we grabbed another deserved 3
points on the road on a tricky pitch, it was great to see new signing Danny Parish in a Hastings shirt and I have a feeling we will see lots of goals from him for the run in and the foreseeable future. Danny is happy to be here and we hope he will play a huge part of the coming years.
As I said at the start 9 games to go. Every game is important but it’s you, the supporters who make such a difference. Once again get right behind the boys in claret and white, be vocal, be supportive and make this place rock from side to side as we look to add another 3 points on the board.
Good afternoon and welcome to the Continental Pilot Field.
A warm welcome to the officials staff and players of Corinthian, who are having a fantastic first season in the Pitching In Isthmian South East since their promotion. They’re a team that gives it their all and have great togetherness so we must be once again at the top of our game.
We’re continuing our great form at present as we head into the last 9 games of the season. My message to the players is enjoy it. Success in football can be sometimes very difficult to come by, but trust me when you’re within a special group doing special things you must enjoy it, as experience has taught me.
Lastly it’s fantastic to have signed Danny Parish, and please give him a warm home welcome, he is a fantastic player that’s going to do well here!
Onwards and upwards!

Good afternoon everyone.
Welcome back to the Pilot Field after two great wins, here at home to Phoenix Sports and on the road away to Chichester City last Saturday (Welcome to the football family Danny!). We are now 9 points clear at the top of the table and long may that continue and increase with 9 games left, still taking each game at a time and staying focused.
I would like to welcome and thank today's Match Sponsor, Hastings Cocktail Club which was formerly known as Walkers Bar in Robertson Street. After a little facelift and a name change Hastings Cocktail Club reopened its door again for a grand opening night on Valentine's weekend 2022 which was a great success and very busy. The Club offers some of the best cocktails, quality food made on site and great music. With some great customer reviews the Club will go from strength to strength and are currently looking to hire a Sous Chef and evening and weekend bar staff as they expand their team. CV’s can be emailed over directly to HCC via hcc@prestigeleisuregroup.co.uk. If you would like any further details and opening times please call 01424 547699 or follow their Facebook page. We
hope everyone enjoys their day with us.
I would also like to welcome and continually thank Bob H who is our Matchball Sponsor for every league game, Bob does so much for the Club and we thank him for his continued support both with the first and the ladies team.
I would finally like to welcome and thank our Mascots to today's game, Bailey, Ryan and Richie.
We hope you all enjoy your day with us and the complete matchday experience.
Enjoy the game and hopefully 3 points!
Hayley
My waffle and opinions, I don't speak for Hastings United.
Personal observations on the world of semi-pro football and sport in general.
Virtually a copy of the Sittingbourne game as United took another big step in the right direction. The game was wrapped up at the very end as James Hull - given the penalty box freedom of West Sussex - put away a Tom Chalmers pass to seal a 2-0 win at Chichester City. Compact, bumpy pitch, windy afternoon and plenty of U's support in the 318 attendance. United finished with 10 men as a fussy referee got card happy, Sam Hasler the unfortunate recipient of two yellows.
Happily the same referee it was who awarded a penalty early in the 2nd half. Put away it wassqueezed in by our latest new signing Danny Parish who looks a very promising addition to the squad. Special mention, by the way, for Tommy Cooney who's looking a top signing down that left flank.
Social media - guilty as charged, I poach stuff off it all the time for Gut Feeling and Twitter is the business when it comes to supplying material relating to semi-pro football. And here we have a tweet from a clearly disgruntled Newhaven player… (I remember agonising, last season was it, over whether to use a mild profanity - bo*locks - and here it's the same quandary with tos*er. Oh well, I wasn't inundated with howls of protest before, so here we go ... ) ...
Debut for Danny Parish - get in there!
We look in good nick for the run in, big bonus being Cray Valley losing at Ashford. All the other contenders won except Haywards Heath who are falling off the pace, going down 3-0 at Sittingbourne.
Anyway, interest was aroused at a player going public over his non-inclusion in on pitch activities. This warranted further investigation …….
Ah HA! Clearly some man management issues at Newhaven. What's a player to do if he can't select himself to have a run out off the bench? How does the manager discipline himself for such rebellious behaviour?
And about time too. In this digital world we live in these days you can forget how we always used to communicate. As I left the Pilot Field after the Phoenix Sports game a fortnight ago I was accosted by a dodgy looking bloke - none other than the programme editor who puts together what you're reading now - Paul Hoggard, no less! Good to meet you, mate!
For those who don't know, Paul, a long time United, Town and United man, now lives up in the Midlands and until our encounter, all contact (5 years!) had been by keyboard or touch screen. Yea, good to talk!
woke up to the need for it - it usually gets it right and the hold ups while incidents are looked at are part and parcel of top level sport. Not at step 4 semi pro football - though there have been incidents where video has been used to rescind red card suspensions - Ollie Rowe vs Lewes a few seasons ago and Charlie Horlock at Leiston in that FA Cup classic in 18.
I would love to see VAR used on Monday morning to deal with the unsavoury stuff that usually goes unpunished. Face clutching, shin clasping pretend injuries which are a stain on football. Infuriating when opposing players do it and, let's face it, embarrassing when our's do it. It'll come eventually and any advantages gained from such behaviour will be reversed with points deductions.
And on the subject of points deductions, did I see that Derby might be hit with another 15 points next season?
Hmmmm. Frank Lampard not a happy bunny as Everton miss out on a penalty even after VAR was used for this handball. Post incident scrutinytennis, rugby, cricket and eventually football that
TODAY Squeaky bum time eh? 9 points is a nice cushion with 9 games left but that can be deflated at any time. This is a tough league and every game is a challenge. Corinthian beat us at their place in November, the early days of the new management set up - between Chris going and Gary taking over. Here's to staying clear of the play-off places scrap. No Tuesday games this week, Ashford play their game in hand next week at East Grinstead. Quite a few U's supporters going apparently.
Look familiar. That 7 goal celebration? Rodari doing the biz for Worthing last weekend. Big 3-0 win against rivals Enfield Town.
Daillo (20) who signed professionally for Premier League club Burnley in 2020, joins us following a spell at Lancing.
Ismaila Diallo: “I’m really happy to be here at Hastings United Football Club, a massive club with huge ambition, with a squad full of quality and hunger. I can’t wait to get started and working closely with Gary Elphick, Jon Meeney and Andrew Brown who I think will help improve my game and I hope to help the team achieve success. They are top class coaches and amazing guys and I am so excited to play in front of the amazing fans at The Pilot Field. I am buzzing for the weekend!”
Gary Elphick: “We welcome Ismaila to Hastings United. He is a young, energetic player who is attack minded but most importantly will work hard for the team. We look forward to seeing him in a Hastings United shirt.”
Billy Wood: “Ismaila obviously has a lot of talent, having an extensive period as a youth player at Arsenal before signing pro terms at Burnley. The great thing about the lad is his hunger to come to Hastings United and put his all in. I think we have signed an exciting young player with a massive future in front of him. A young lad who matches our ambition. I urge the supporters to get right behind him like you do the whole squad on a Saturday!”
Parish (23) joins Hastings from National League South side Welling United, following a spell at National League Wealdstone.
Danny Parish: “I’m really excited to be part of this team. I could tell from my conversation with Gaz and my first training session that the set up down here is very professional. The club have got big plans for the future and I hope I can help the team get the promotion it deserves.”
Gary Elphick: “It’s great to announce the signature of Danny Parish. He will add quality to a talented group, and I feel that Hastings and Dan can grow together. It’s an important stage of the season and I now feel we have depth everywhere in the squad. Once again I thank the board for the backing as well, which has been there since day one of my management.”
Billy Wood: “Danny is a goal scorer, a real threat and someone that we are excited to bring in to compliment the squad we have. Danny has terrified defences everywhere he has been and is such a handful. I am sure the supporters will warm to him quickly and we look forward to him performing for the club this season and onwards.”
Hastings look home and dry, but we’ve important wins for Ashford, Ramsgate, Bay and Hill as the battle for the play-off places heats up. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South East Round up.
Our leaders, Hastings United, travelled along the A27 to Chichester City with a six point lead, and new signing Danny Parish opened the scoring from the spot on fifty-three minutes. As we expected, City didn’t roll over, and it took until the very last minute for United to confirm victory, James Hull with the second. By that point the visitors were down to ten men, Sam Hasler seeing red sixteen minutes from the end - but the end the day nine points clear.
Our big match was between Ashford United and Cray Valley PM, in third and second. After a goalless first half the Nuts and Bolts got themselves in front nine minutes after the break through Luke Burdon, but were ahead for only three minutes before Ade Adeyemo equalised for the Millers. United then turned on the style, and Francis Collin restored home advantage thirteen minutes from time before Gary Lockyer made sure with a third, three minutes from time.
Ramsgate travelled to Phoenix Sports, and blunted the hosts great escape. Jamie Coyle put
the Rams ahead ten minutes before the break, Oliver Bate made it two three minutes later, and thirteen minutes into the second half Tijan Jadama made it three. Wale Odedoyin got one back for the hosts right at the end, but it was three points to the Rams, who are twelve points off the top but, perhaps more importantly, four points above sixth place Haywards Heath Town.
Herne Bay are up to fifth. Two early goals from Zak Ansah gave them a two goal advantage over Whitehawk, his sixteenth and seventeenth of the season, and although Alex Laing got one back for the visitors with twenty one minutes remaining the points stayed at home.
Haywards Heath Town travelled down to Sittingbourne to take on the Brickies, and their promotion hopes took a stoning as the hosts performed a demolition job. Kane Rowland gave them the lead just before the half hour, and then Johan Caney-Bryan took control, adding two more in a thirteen minute spell just after the break. That was that, and Heath tumble out of the top five, whilst Sittingbourne are three places and six points further back.
Burgess Hill Town are up to seventh, only four points short of the top five. The Hillians got three goals to go with their three points against Hythe Town, Lewis Tayor getting two of them, one in each half, before Hayden Skerry got the third right at the end.
VCD Athletic travelled to East Grinstead Town on the back of two goalless draws, but it seemed they’d been saving up the goals for the Wasps. Courtney Barrington put them ahead after just
two minutes, and within ten minutes of the second half it was three, Anthony Adesite and Sonny Black putting the match out of sight. Vickers end the day in eighth.
Three Bridges made Whitstable Town’s survival bid more difficult at the home of the rail replacement bus service. Dan Perry has been in superb form of late, and got his seventeenth of the season on twenty five minutes. Curtis Gayler doubled their advantage four minutes before the break, and it was eighteen for Perry when he got number three nine minutes after half time. Stephen Okoh gave the Oysters hope seventeen minutes before the end, but it was forlorn hope and they stay at the bottom.
Tyrell Richardson-Brown opened the scoring in Faversham Town’s match with Lancing, and he closed the scoring too, as that was the only goal of the game, giving the Lilywhites three points and lifting them to thirteenth.
Finally, a much changed Sevenoaks Town side under new boss Harry Hudson looked to have taken all three points at Corinthian. Lesley Duru’s forty first minute goal gave Oaks the lead, but a late, late equaliser from Jack Mahoney earned a point for the hosts.
Tom Chalmers was awarded ‘Man Of The Match’ by Match Sponsor Crossland and Dudson Training Limited. Tom was presented with his award by Academy Coach Jake Daniels and match mascot, Mason Burgon.#Team

Sittingbourne v Hastings United on Saturday wasn't just a tense, exciting match, it was also Sittingbourne FC’s Prostate Cancer awareness day. Fundraiser Justin Foote was the driving force behind the day, and his inspiration comes from his personal history with the disease.
“In April 2019, I started to explore ways that I could do my bit for raising awareness of Prostate Cancer to say ‘Thank You’ for the treatment my family received. In February of that year my uncle had his Prostate removed, and then my Dad was treated at the Medway Hospital ,then in April 2020 after routine Blood and Urine tests at the London Bridge Hospital, it was thought that I had low level Prostate Cancer."
Justin, who was part of the London Stadium marathon walk with Sky Sports Presenter Jeff Stelling in September 2019, continued:
“After a long battle against the disease, a very close family friend sadly passed away in May 2021 of Prostate Cancer. Because of all of this I want to raise further awareness and funds to help beat a disease that currently kills 1 man every 45 minutes within the United Kingdom.
I really appreciated the support of the Sittingbourne football club community and the Hastings United fans in helping to fund the research to change the game and stop Prostate Cancer being a killer!” The fans of the two clubs raised £275 on Saturday.
Justin is currently in the midst of a series of marathon walks from May ‘21 to April ‘22 in support of the charity. So far, he’s successfully completed the 42km Jurassic Coast Challenge along the spectacular Jurassic Coast through to Lulworth Cove, Dorset; a 40km walk from Rainham Cricket Club (Kent) to the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury when Kent hosted Sussex Sharks in the 20 / 20 Vitality Blast; and the London Stadium Walk – a walk across London’s Iconic Football Stadiums with Jeff Stelling.
He now plans to take part in two more walks – Gillingham FC to Charlton Athletic FC (Tuesday 15th March 202245km) and the Easter 50 Challenge (April 2022 - 50km) – Setting out from Windsor Racecourse. You can donate at his Just Giving page.
Sevenoaks Town Football Club have confirmed the appointment of Harry Hudson as the club’s new First Team manager.
Hudson joins the club after departing Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division side Glebe. He took charge of the First Team for the first time on Saturday 26th February in the away league fixture against Corinthian FC.
The appointment of Hudson comes after a robust recruitment process with 57 applicants for the role.
Hudson told the club:
“It is a huge honour for me to be appointed as First Team manager of this ambitious club. I can’t wait to get started! After speaking to the Directors and Trustees, I very much felt their enthusiasm to grow the club, be innovative on all fronts and achieve something special.
The club is widely respected in so many regards; for its first-class junior and youth teams, community initiatives and of course its amazing 3G pitch with further exciting plans to build a new clubhouse and take Greatness Park to the next level. These are exciting times for everyone involved with the club.
My first message to the players will be that we have to do this together. We find ourselves in a difficult position but we’ll try to do our job and fight for every point over the remaining ten games of the season.”
Harry left Whyteleafe in May last year, having joined the club from Croydon three years previously.
Under his tenure they finished eighth and seventh in the Pitching In Isthmian South East, and were in fourth place when last season shuddered to an early halt.

Before the Charity Shield/Community Shield came along the big charity match was the Sheriff of London Charity Shield which was competed for annually for 10 seasons from 1898. The competing teams were the best amateur side of the period - which was usually the Corinthian Football Club - and a top professional side. In 1904 the opposing teams were Corinthians and the side who had won the FA Cup the previous year, Bury. Played at the Queen's Club, which was Corinthians home ground and is better known now as a tennis venue, Bury fielded ten of the side who had beaten Derby County 6-0 in the Cup final - still a winning margin which has not been bettered in a final. In less than 10 minutes Bury were leading 2-0 but then the amateurs started to play with 'wonderful dash' and the Corinthians were 4-2 up at the break and won the match 10-3. Amazing!
The record attendance at White Hart Lane was set – 75,038 for an FA Cup 6th Round tie between Tottenham and Sunderland. A Raich Carter goal gave cup holders Sunderland a 1-0 victory.

Club: Corinthian Football Club
Club Formed: 1972
Nickname: The Hoops
Chairman: Ronald J. Billings
Manager: Michael Golding
Ground: Gay Dawn Farm, Fawkham
Corinthian FC was founded in 1972 by Mr RJ Billings (snr) to provide football in a safe environment, whilst teaching the players the principles that he believed to be important in sport. The motto was simply “pro omnium beneficio” - for the benefit of all, but on the pitch the principles were simple; “Hard, but fair”. Losing wasn’t considered before the game, but if the result went against us then the players were taught to take it graciously.
For the first ten years of the club’s existence we were pleased to welcome such teams as Tottenham, Charlton and Norwich amongst other league teams as well as county and district representative sides as our opposition. On top of these games there were many regular visitors to Gay Dawn Farm from local clubs making up a fixture list of over 60 games per season.
During the 1980s with the arrival of an experienced football manager, Mr Tony Sitford, we progressed from youth football

into men’s football playing in the old Southern League. This level of football by a totally amateur club made us unique, but caused problems in the long run in attracting new players. Into the 1990’s we dropped back down to the Kent League and enjoyed many a season in this set up.
Early into the new century we reviewed the whole structure of our football club and decided that we had lost our roots in youth football and this was having a detrimental effect on our senior side. So, we decided to withdraw temporarily from senior football, whilst we rebuilt the lower levels of the club. In 2008 we had managed to create a club running 5 sides, from 13-years-old through to 18-years-old and it became obvious that we needed to consider the next step in our restructuring. For two seasons we had a liaison with Welling United, integrating a senior side within Welling United and developed a reserve side initially playing in Kent Division 2 (season 2008/09) and then moving on
After establishing the club, Mr Billings created a football ground at his Gay Dawn Farm. The farm later became a wider sports complex, featuring golf and footgolf courses. When floodlights were installed Bobby Moore was the guest of honour. A wooden stand with benches is located behind one goal, whilst the two-storey clubhouse has balcony seats.
Football Club, we did not hesitate to take it. Probably two years too soon, but the challenge was one we were keen to take. We introduced a second senior side playing in the Suburban League to help us progress our U18’s into men’s football.
The 2010 / 11 season saw Corinthian FC running two senior sides one in the Kent Football League Premier Division and one in the Suburban League South Division plus three youth sides – U14, U15 and U18 in the Kent Youth League. For the 2011/12 season as well as all the above, Corinthian FC had an U18 side in the Ryman Youth League. We feel that that this fills the gap from Kent Youth League to senior football, enabling us to offer a true progression for all our players.
The 2012/13, 14/15, 15/16, 17/18, 18/19 and 19/20 seasons saw the addition of U13 and U15 team playing in
After untimely ends to the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, when the boys were flying high, we are delighted to have retained the main squad, with the addition of some of last season U18’s.
Corinthian Football Club are delighted to have been promoted into the Isthmian League Division One South East for the 2021/22 season and are looking forward to the challenge, to visiting new grounds and making new friends.
For our 21/22 campaign we continue with sides in the Suburban League Premier Division, Isthmian U18 East Division as well as the Isthmian South East Division.
Corinthian arrived with 25 minutes remaining via a simple long ball collected and dispatched by substitute Beckha-Kah Dembele. United went in search of a winner but instead were caught on the break and a low cross travelled across the area and was side-footed home by Frankie Morgan to give The Hoops the three points.
scoring, which they waste with a wild spot-kick over the bar.
The ‘U’s respond through Lanre Azeez twice being involved. First, he sets up Hasler whose shot from 20 yards flies into the trees behind the goal, before Jack Dixon has a shot blocked and then Hasler repeats his trick o f firing over.

After the joy of a comprehensive win on Tuesday night, United were brought crashing down to earth in losing a game which will be remembered more for its irritable nature than any of the football played. Typified by United’s Ben Pope and Corinthian’s James Billings running battle. The home side wasted a golden chance in the opening minutes in blazing a penalty over the top and were made to pay when Ryan Worrall’s shot from distance squirmed past the goalkeeper on the stroke of half-time. The secondhalf continued in the same stop-start manner with neither side creating a chance of note. An equaliser for
Saturday 6th November, a 3pm kickoff on a dry day with light cloud and the occasional gust of wind. The ground, known as ‘The Farm’, is situated on a working dairy farm. It has an adjacent golf course and is fully open to the elements. There is a small electronic scoreboard in the corner, reclaimed bus shelters provide cover for standing spectators and the seats in the main stand sit atop a disguised lorry bed. It is a curious mish-mash surrounding a decent looking pitch cut with an elaborate chequerboard pattern. United are in their changed kit, head to toe in sky-blue, but unchanged in personnel from Tuesday night. Corinthian’s strip is green and white hooped shirts with white shorts and socks. The Hastings Town incarnation of the club visited Corinthian in an FA Cup first qualifying round tie back in 1994, with Hastings winning 2 – 1.
The current Hastings United do the honours and knock the ball around for ninety seconds until a pass is intercepted on the edge of the United area. Worrall blocks a shot, Louis Rogers saves the follow-up and as Craig Stone attempts a clearance, he clips a player and concedes a penalty. There are no complaints. Without completing a single pass of their own Corinthian have the opportunity to open the
The opening 15 minutes has been hectic with United getting the ball down and passing while Corinthian have been starved of the ball and are looking to launch long balls forward at every opportunity. Which almost pays off for them. A long punt from the goalkeeper is flicked on though the resulting shot is well over the bar. Route one by the home side.
The referee’s loose interpretation of the laws then makes a showing. A Corinthian back pass to the goalkeeper is controlled with his feet and then under pressure from Pope he picks the ball up. The referee is uninterested by United’s appeals from both players and supporters. Pope is then yellow-carded for an innocuous collision with centre-half Billings which is the start of repeated attempts to have Pope sent off.
At the next United corner there’s more shenanigans, pushing and shoving before the pair challenge for the ball again which leaves Billings seemingly injured beyond repair before running out of defence without treatment and none the worse. Minutes later as Pope chases a back pass he’s blatantly shoved over, both off the ball and in the penalty area, yet neither the referee nor his assistant react.
United keep pressing, a Hasler cross from the right is dropped by the goalkeeper at Pope’s feet but his goal bound shot is blocked on the line. As the half has progressed Corinthian have gradually adjusted their way of playing and they put together a move down the left which almost results in the opening goal. A low cross into the area bypasses the last United defender but is sidefooted wide from a few yards out. It is the best chance of the game, which is saying a lot seeing as the home side have had a penalty.
As half-time approaches Stone gets his head to an Ollie Black throw which beats the goalkeeper but is once again cleared off the line. Just as it seems the half will remain goalless calamity strikes for the home side. Hasler frees Tom Chalmers down the left and although he is tackled the ball is picked up by Worrall in the middle of the Corinthian half and he hits a potshot from 30 yards. This is not a trademark Worrall humdinger though he strikes it well enough and on target but it’s straight at the goalkeeper who should throw his cap on it. Instead the ball bounces a few feet in front him, skids on, hits his gloves and drops over the line. A Clanger with a capital ‘Cee’.
A hectic, fractious opening 45 minutes comes to end with United fortunate to be leading. Not a game which is pretty to watch and no doubt not an enjoyable game to play in either.
Half-time: Corinthian 0 – 1 UNITED
The home side restart the game with the floodlights on and the continua-
tion of the Billings vs Pope wrestling bout. When Worrall lofts a ball over the top Pope looks to be away but is callously hacked from behind earning Billings a yellow which could easily have been an early bath.
Black is then shoved over by his opposite number when shepherding the ball out of play. The players touch foreheads and not in the manner of an Inuit friendly greeting. Somehow the outcome is a Corinthian corner.
The game continues to be disrupted. The Hoops complain about each challenge, question every decision and they’re not allowing any rhythm to be established by either side. That seems to be their game plan and the issue for the ‘U’s is the antics suit Corinthian as it prevents United from building up a head of steam. Their frustration is deepened by a Corinthian equaliser with 25 minutes remaining. A diagonal punt frees Dembele on the left and he strikes an early low shot across Rogers and into the bottom corner.
United up the urgency seeki ng to get their noses back in front. Dixon breaks through midfield and gives Hasler the chance to cross from which Chalmers hammers in a shot from eight yards. The goalkeeper’s reaction save is excellent and some redemption for his earlier error. From the corner a United shot is blocked, there are claims for handball ignored by the referee then Hasler’s shot is deflected wide.
As the ‘U’s push up they are caught on the break. Emmanuel Oloyede makes good headway down the right and his low cross bisects
United’s goalkeeper and defence to arrive at the feet of Morgan at the far post. It’s a replica of their first-half chance but this time there is no reprieve as Morgan side-foots home. The game has been turned on its head.
With time running out United move from seeking a winner to needing an equaliser. A cross looks destined for Chalmers’ head but the defender prevents him from jumping though nothing untoward is seen by the official. When the clock moves into the seventh minute of added time the final act epitomises the overall game. Hasler is pushed in the back by Oloyede who gathers the ball and there’s no intervention from the referee, so the striker blasts a shot goalward which hits the upright and bounces clear as the whistle for the end of the game sounds.
A scrappy game won by the team who wanted exactly the sort of match this turned into. Disappointment and frustration for United who cannot consistently recreate the earlier form which gave them an eight game winning streak.

Hastings United have announced the arrival of Ismaila Diallo, who makes the tortuous journey along the A27, undoubtedly arriving after getting stuck in traffic outside Lewes (it's the law).
Ismaila has been a revelation for the Lancers, scoring three times in his twelve appearances, two of those goals coming against Hastings' title rivals Cray Valley PM and Ashford United - it's as if he's been doing their work long before his actual arrival!
He has a fabulous football education, appearing as a youth for Brighton & Hove Albion before moving on to Arsenal and then signing for Burnley, where he featured regularly for the Under 23 side in Premier League 2.
Still only twenty, he has plenty of time to get himself back up the ladder, and perhaps Susse x might be where he makes that mark.
Whitstable Town have announced three new arrivals, with the signings of Charlie Heatley, Mo Karama and George Monger.
Charlie moves down to the Kent coast from Barking, where he had scored nine goals in thirty one appearances. he made it ten for the campaign when he scored on his debut against Ashford United.
Charlie previously played for Frenford, and prior to that for FC Hamlets and Mile End, and apparently was once a goalkeeper - so at least his new manager won't need one of those on the bench!
Mo Kamara is a defender who moves over from Whitehawk, where he has only been since October. He played twenty two times for the Hawks, including against his new employers in November - although the Belmont faithful will forgive him that, as they won. he started the season with Margate, playing eight times, and last season was
at Herne Bay, playing six times after joining from Ashford United. Whilst with the Nuts and Bolts during 2019-20 he made thirty nine appearances, almost all of them in the number six shirt.
That was his second spell with the Nuts and Bolts, and he'd also played for Herne Bay previously, making seven appearances in 2017-18 a campaign during which he also played for Molesey. He has also turned out for Greenwich Borough.
George Monger, a midfielder, previously played for his new manager at VCD Athletic. He moves over from Sitingbourne, where he has made twenty appearances this season, and as well as Vickers has turned out for Ramsgate, Faversham Town, Thamesmead Town and Dartford.
No, this isn't an ecumenical matter, it's a new striker at the Continental Pilot Field.
When you are the top scoring side in the Pitching In Isthmian South East Division and you decide to strengthen your side, who do you sign? A striker, of course, and that's exactly what Hastings United have done.
Moving to the Continental Pilot Field from National League South Welling United is a familiar name to Isthmian watchers, former Maldon & Tiptree and Ashford United striker Danny Parish.
Danny was prolific at Step Four. During the 201920 season he scored an incredible twenty-nine goals in forty matches for Maldon & Tiptree, including three hat-tricks, and that wasn't a flash in the pan because the season before that he managed twenty-four goals for Hastings' promotion rivals Ashford United, and was part of the Nuts and Bolts side that knocked out his new club in the Play-off Semi-Final.
He left the Jammers for Wealdstone in the summer of 2020, and in October of last year moved to Welling United, but now he's back to terrorise South East defences once more.
brilliant save from the Chichester goalkeeper, with the resulting corner being cleared. Chichester have their fair share of chances in the first half and test Louis Rogers w ho makes a decent save at his near post.
As the half continues United are able to press higher with Parish testing the keeper and Worrall curling the ball just wide of the post. The referee blows the whistle and the teams exit the field with the scores level.
Half-time: Chichester City 0 – 0 UNITED
As the players re-enter the field for the second half Ben Pope has made way for Sam Hasler.

It’s a sunny Saturday in Sussex for an East vs West derby where Hastings United travel to Chichester City.
All eyes are on the ‘U’s new signing Danny Parish who joins following a spell at Vanarama National League South team Welling United.
Hastings start the game 6 points clear at the top of the Isthmian League South East having only lost 1 game in 2022 against BurgessHill Town. Chichester City start the game in 9th place following 3 consecutive defeats to Herne Bay, Cray Valley PM and Hythe Town.
Chichester kick off the first half with the ‘U’s shooting from right to left. A long ball gives Parish a chance to show off his speed and forces a
United start the second half brightly with a chip over the defence where Parish is able to control the ball, he knocks the ball away from the oncoming keeper who collides with Parish, the referee blows his whistle and after a discussion with the linesman over where the foul takes place awards United with a penalty.
With Ben Pope off the field Parish steps up to take the penalty and smashes the ball towards the keepers bottom right corner, the keeper is able to get a hand to it however the power is too much, and it finds its way into the back of the net.
Chichester kick off and Sam Hasler finds himself in the book for a reckless challenge after only 13 minutes on the pitch. Hastings look to maintain their lead and pressure by bringing on James Hull who replaces Ismaila Diallo.
The ‘U’s keep the pressure on the home side with a free kick which results in a corner.
Tom Chalmers finds himself in space down the wing and whips the ball in for James Hull who’s overhead kick sails spectacularly over the bar. Knory Scott finds himself in the book for dissent when he kicks the ball away after the referee blows for a free kick to Chichester. As the Chichester free kick is taken the ball sails out to the wing, off the ball there is a coming together between Sam Hasler and Ben Mendoza, there appeared to be no malice and they just crossed paths, the referee on the other hand didn’t see it that way and shows Sam a second yellow card and the league leaders are reduced to 10 men.
Knory Scott remains heated and, with the ‘U’s already a man down, is replaced by Kenny Pogue with 10 minutes left to play. Chichester are able to keep the ball with the extra man and force a save from Rogers when a shot ricochets off Craig Stone. Chichester have a quick succession of corners which cause no trouble.
A big kick up from Rogers finds Tom Chalmers up the wing, he is able to get around 2 defenders, and whips his cross into an unmarked James Hull who slots the ball neatly past the goal keeper to put Hastings United 2-0 up. The referee then brings the game to a close.
Big news in from other fixtures in the league. Second placed Cray Valley PM lost 3-1 to Ashford United and with a 2-0 win at Chichester the ‘U’s are now 9 points clear at the top.
