r. Louis Theodorou is the general dentist at Glen Ridge Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, where he offers comprehensive dental treatments to all of his patients. In 2006, he achieved the status of Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor attained by less than 5 percent of all general dentists in the U.S. Dr. Theodorou believes that staying current on emerging dental technologies is important to offering specialized and comprehensive treatments to individuals. Dr. Theodorou has completed more than 800 hours of continuing education to further extend his knowledge on all emerging techniques. The information he learns at these courses plays an integral role in maintaining his full-service practice.
How do you ensure specialized care to your patients? I am a member of the Spear Study Club, which is a group of 10 dentists that do extensive continuing education. We meet monthly to discuss different cases, new technologies and ideas. Being a part of this organization keeps me at the forefront of newly introduced products in dentistry and allows me to successfully treat more complex dental cases.
Please highlight any unique services that your practice offers its patients. At Glen Ridge Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, we offer nitrous oxide sedation, low-dose digital x-rays, laser gum treatment, Invisalign orthodontics and multiple evening and Saturday appointments. We also offer cable TV in each treatment room to help patients have a more relaxed and enjoyable experience. Are you using any new technology in your office? We are using a new dental laser that eliminates the need for scalpels and stitches typically required for many minor soft tissue procedures. This can dramatically shorten healing time and drastically reduce or even completely eliminate post-operative discomfort. We also utilize intraoral cameras, laser cavity detection and other treatments to ensure quality care. Describe the patient-doctor relationship at your practice. All patients are treated like family. When we’re in the beginning stages of creating a treament plan, I always think of how I would treat my wife, father, mother or child. I want to ensure all of my patients recieve the best treatment plans possible regardless of how minor or severe their case is.
