Use Video to Strengthen Your Defence After successive relegations, Hyde United’s defence needed reinforcement to progress in the Northern Premier League. But rather than go out and sign a new back four, the Tigers turned to video analysis. “I sat down with Dave McGurk [assistant manager] and we spoke about the use of analytical technology to make sure that the players improve and that the team performances improve,” said Hyde’s CEO Mark Worthington. “In preseason we did a lot of work on the defensive setup and we’ve now got the best defensive record in the league this season by far,” said McGurk. “Video analysis has contributed to it massively because it’s like an extra training session for us.” Hyde is adamant this was the turning point for the club.

Just 15 minutes separate the conclusion of the first half and the beginning of the second—a short, but important period.
