New College students celebrate their grades
“I’m really surprised but delighted with my grades,” said Funmi, a former student of Brooksbank School, Elland. Daniel Bellafonte, 19, received a triple distinction in computing. The former Newsome High School student is to study internet computing at Liverpool University. Daniel, from Big Valley, said: “I’m
pleased. It was important to get in this year so I will be paying the lower tuition fees.” Bethan Jones, of Scapegoat Hill, received a double distinction in health and social care and a grade C in drama. She is taking a gap year and working as a health care assistant at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary before studying for a
degree in psychology with counselling at Huddersfield University. “I’m working for a year and then will be living at home to keep my loans to a minimum,” said Bethan, who wants to become a counsellor. Other successes at New College included student union president Josh Parker, who came to study at the college from Dubai two years ago and lived independently with his older brother. He attained three grade A A-levels in sociology, medieval history and classical civilisation and is to study sociology at Durham.
