Process Sketch | Site Line Model

Academic Work - Duration: 3 weeks 2016

For our second-year course of architectural modeling, I took on the challenge of studying Rem Koolhaas’s iconic Villa dall’Ava. We had to make models understanding poche, circulation, and site lines.

For the site line model, I was highly intrigued by the geometrical roo op of this house. When standing from afar, the Ei el tower can be easily perceived, and despite simplicity, the complex topography of this house makes it more appreciable.

For this model, the base consisted of pure concrete that organically shaped the base frame of the house when perceived from its complex angle. e three slits of printed acrylic indented into the concrete foundation of the site lines are seen from the roo op. Finally, the acrylic rod scales to the height of the roof with a human gure placed on top as we see his path of vision.
