GROUND UP- Completion date: 2004 The Impala is a luxury high rise residential development featuring three buildings consisting of a 31 story, tower on First Avenue, a seven story building on 76th Street and a seven story building on 75th street. All three buildings face into a large landscaped garden. With the exterior design by Michael Graves, one of the challenges for H. Thomas O’Hara, Architect was to work within the confines of the exterior design, while at the same time, keeping the facade economically viable. To this end, the use of brick faced pre-cast concrete panels is employed in combination with standard cavity wall construction.
