5 Tips to Staying in Touch with Past Clients We all know staying in touch with clients the business has not recently serviced is difficult, but essential, especially if you are hoping for their business again one day. Keeping in touch with Realtors, Builders, and Investors may be easier than keeping up with the homeowner. We tend to think they just need us once and then they won’t need us again. This may not be true, so it’s important to stay in touch with them as well. We understand the difficulty of keeping up with clients past and present, so we are sharing a few tips on ways to stay in front of them, as follows:

Tip #1: Update Your Contact List

In my June article, I discussed the importance of updating your contact database, resisting the urge to over-clutter it with people you haven’t serviced in a while.

When updating your contact list, pay attention to bounced emails or constant lack of answering the phone or text. This could be a sign they have a new email or phone number. Try to track them down to get all of their information updated.

Tip #2: Update Clients Through Email There has been talk about the effectiveness of email marketing for quite some time, but it hasn’t completely left the radar. Emails are still very important in the Real Estate industry, so continue sending them. In emails, you can share market updates, news, industry tips, or just check in. You can also have each contact categorized in different email lists so different types of people get different emails.

Tip #3: Engage on Social Media

Social media is definitely not going anywhere. Communication on Social Media is one of the most important ways to connect. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and even TikTok are great ways to stay connected. This helps bring a personal touch to your marketing.

Tip #4: Use Your Mailbox The Pandemic taught all of us so many things. Yes, we have become more digital, but I would bet that we still all love to get something in the mail, feeling some real-life connection with others. This is where sending fun holiday cards or thinking-of-you packages can be such an amazing way to market.

Tip #5: Be Active

We are big believers in getting out into the community and being active. This could look like sponsoring local events, going to trade shows, going to conferences and meeting new people in the Real Estate industry, and so much more. Having a personal one-on-one connection and meeting in

person can change the trajectory of your business. Doing things virtually is great if you can’t go somewhere in person, but we highly encourage all of our members to get out into the world and meet new people, as well as get into the rooms where past clients go to reconnect with them.

HOME STAGING & REDESIGN ALLIANCE

Hopefully these 5 tips have been helpful to stay connected with your current and past clients. As we all know, there are seasons where doing any of this sounds overwhelming because of the number of jobs your company is doing, but set aside some amount of time and plan all of your connections. Never stop connecting!

The GDP program gave me all of the tools and confidence to launch my business. The continued support from HSRA and from my peers has been crucial.

Completing and implementing GDP has been such a huge benefit for my company and our team. We bonded as a team, learned and implemented best practices per department, and our team members not only improved but began owning their department and became truly accountable! DESIGNER SONYA BUNGGI

GDP has turned around not only my business performance but also helped me to be a better leader to my team. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to improve performance on all levels of home staging business.

I absolutely believe that the GDP program was fantastic for our team. GDP helped us re-examine so many different aspects of our business and were able to grow together as a whole unit instead of as individual people. I absolutely recommend the GDP program to every one of our colleagues.

The growth development program was such a great educational tool for me and my team. We were able to tighten up administrative processes and procedures, educate our team on specific skills and duties, while giving me a bigger vision to look forward to.

JENNIFER GAINER STAGING BUSINESS ADVISOR

CREATING TRACTION - AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE EOS MODEL In July’s publication, I presented a broad overview of the EOS Model for running an effective business (see the book Rocket Fuel by Gino Wickman}. This month, I want to dive into a specific section of that model, and talk about TRACTION. What is traction? In business, traction refers to the process of gaining momentum for your company's growth. This usually happens through a combination of marketing efforts, product development, and sales initiatives. In order to gain traction, you need to generate interest and demand for your product or service.

HOME STAGING & REDESIGN ALLIANCE

You also want to make sure you are gaining ground in your company’s core values, client concern resolution, and conflict management within your team. If any of these areas are weak, it will be difficult to gain, or maintain, traction for your business overall. You know that core values are important, but how do you create traction in this area? Below are a few key things you can do to bring your values to life and create an environment where they guide day-to-day decision making:

1. COMMUNICATE THEM CLEARLY AND OFTEN Make sure everyone in your organization is aware of your core values. Post them in conspicuous places, include them in new employee orientation, and refer to them frequently in company communications.

HOME STAGING & REDESIGN ALLIANCE

2. MODEL THE BEHAVIOR YOU WANT TO SEE. As the leader of your organization, you set the tone for how core values are lived out on a day-today basis. If you want employees to uphold certain values, make sure you're doing so yourself.

3. REWARD AND RECOGNIZE EMPLOYEES WHO EXEMPLIFY YOUR CORE VALUES. When you catch employees living out your values, let them know you noticed and appreciate it. This could be something as simple as a verbal compliment or public recognition at a company meeting. You could also consider more formal rewards, like bonuses or promotions.

HOME STAGING & REDESIGN ALLIANCE

4. HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE. If you see employees violating the businesses core values, address the issue immediately. This sends a clear message that you take the values seriously and expect others to do so as well. 5. MAKE CORE VALUES A PART OF DECISION MAKING Whenever possible, let your values guide business decisions. For example, if you're trying to decide between two vendors, go with the one that aligns better with your company's values. Service Excellence and Client Satisfaction With traction in your core values, how can you create traction in dealing with service delivery issues, or client concerns? There are many ways to create traction in dealing with service delivery issues. One way is to develop a clear and concise plan that outlines what needs to be done and when. This plan should be reviewed and updated on a regular basis. Another way to create traction is to develop metrics that measure progress and identify areas where improvements need to be made. Finally, it is important to involve all

HOME STAGING & REDESIGN ALLIANCE

stakeholders in the process so that everyone is aware of the issues and committed to resolving them. By taking these steps, you can create the traction needed to effectively deal with service delivery issues. Internal Conflict Resolution With the businesses core values solid, and client’s being cared for with excellence in service delivery, what can you do to improve traction within the business, on a team level? Create traction in conflict resolution within your team by following these tips: 1. ENCOURAGE OPEN COMMUNICATION AMONG TEAM MEMBERS. Make sure that everyone feels comfortable sharing their opinions and ideas, and that there is no judgment or criticism for doing so. This will help to prevent misunderstandings and potential conflict down the road. 2. ESTABLISH CLEAR EXPECTATIONS. Be clear about what you expect from each team member in terms of their responsibilities and tasks. This will help to avoid confusion and conflict over who is responsible for what.

HOME STAGING & REDESIGN ALLIANCE

3. ENCOURAGE CREATIVITY AND OUTSIDE-THE-BOX THINKING. Encourage your team members to think creatively when it comes to problem-solving. This will help to prevent stagnation and conflict over who is responsible for what.

4. BE OPEN TO COMPROMISE. In any conflict situation, be willing to compromise in order to reach a resolution. This shows your team that you are open to different ideas and that you value their input.

HOME STAGING & REDESIGN ALLIANCE

By following these tips, you can encourage a more productive and positive environment within your team or organization. By resolving conflicts in a constructive manner, you can build trust and respect among team members, which will ultimately lead to a more successful and cohesive team. If you are working to implement improvement in all three of these areas - core values, client service excellence, and internal conflict resolution, the business should have incredible traction and be well on the way to greater levels of success!

DAWN TUCKER STAGING BUSINESS DEVELOPER

Everything We Want is on the other side of Fear Ten years ago, I told my friends and family I wanted to start my own business, but asked questions like, "Where do I start", "How do I get inventory", and most importantly, "How do I get clients?" A close friend said, “Dawn, everything you WANT is on the other side of fear.” When she said this it hit me hard, yet she was right. I was equally excited and terrified to take that leap, but I did.

Are you overwhelmed, content, or on a fast track moving forward? We've all had our part in the hot market trend; while it offered no favors for some stagers/designers, it was busier than ever for others. No matter which category you fall in, I think we all became a little lax on investing in the most important part of our business...ourselves. There I said it. I'm calling you out. Yes, I saw you and noticed.

If I could go back and change one thing in the ten years I was in business it would be this. You MUST take time and invest in yourself. I know you have heard Jana say this on repeat; and now I am saying it on repeat and from a mountaintop! Remember that old saying, "there is no time like the present"? No excuses, It's time to move forward, get out of that rut, stop being "too busy" or content, and embrace the family and opportunities right in front of you.

HOME STAGING & REDESIGN ALLIANCE

The sole purpose of my new position at HSRA is to meet you, no matter where you are in your business. This position speaks volumes to me. It shows me Jana and her team want someone specifically to walk alongside you, which is why we are a part of the HSRA family right? I want you to know that you are not alone, and better yet I will do what I can to help you take that next step. Let's leap over that hump together and see what's on the other side. HSRA and I both have a passion to meet you where you are, all you need to do is meet us halfway.
