PotentialNewMember’sBillofRightsHigh Point University houses 6 sororities on campus All Chapters provide opportunities to create memories, life-long friendships, and gain leadership experiences. Being a part of a chapter on campus doesn't exclude you from other activities that high point university offers. There are many women in chapters that are on sports teams, have jobs on campus, and areactiveinclubs.
PanhellenicEvents:
There are events throughout the year that Panhellenic hosts to create relationships in the community These events include guest speakers, food trucks, andGreekWeek.
Philanthropy:
Philanthropy is very important to all sororities on campus. Each sorority has a different Philanthropy that they hold events to benefit and raise money for. The majority of these events are open to the public to enjoy andhelpsupport.
Each sorority has a house located in Greek circle 15 Women have the opportunity to live in their Sorority House.
SocialEvents:
Each sorority hosts a certain amount of social events throughout the year These events are held off campus with transportation provided by the chapter Socials are a way to bond andmakelifelongmemorieswithyour sisters
Studyhall:
All sororities on campus have a GPA minimum they have to follow. To help members with their academics, many sororities host study hall events with sisters to encourage the importance of academics. Some sororities create groups that are based on major or minor to further assistwith academics.
The Panhellenic community and High Point University views academics as a priority. Time management will ensure you are successful in your academics.
Is there a GPA Requirement to go through recruitment?
Yes, you required to have at least a 2.5 GPA (high school for incoming freshman, college for upperclassman).
What are the financial obligations with joining a sorority?
There is a $100 registration fee to go through the recruitment process. In addition, each chapter has semesterly dues. These dues vary across each sorority and will be disclosed during Sisterhood round of recruitment. Many sororities offer payment plans for their members to utilize.
Average New Member Dues: $700-1200
Average Active Member Dues: $500-800
Housing in Greek Village is Tier 3
*(This is not a requirement to join a sorority)
Meet the Greeks is an open house event. All sororities will have tables in Cottrell Amphitheater to talk about their sisterhood, philanthropy, values, and more. This is a great event to attend so thatyouhaveabetterunderstandingofeachchapter!
Sisterhood round is a formal recruitment round where potential new members (PNMs) are invited to all 6 chapters. All PNMs must attend all parties Chapter members will talk to PNMs about their sisterhood, values, and interests. This is the round where you will get to know their chapter, and the chapter will get to know you. All parties are 30 minutes long and take place September 1st-2nd Remember that this round is all about looking for what you want in asisterhood Sisterhoodroundis agreatopportunitytoshowyour personality and explore relationships between the sisters in each chapter!
Philanthropy round teaches PNMs about each chapter's philanthropy and the importance of their cause During these parties, they will discuss events that they host to support their philanthropy.Youmayfindacausethatyouarepassionateabout,or you might already have one that you want to speak about. These parties are more formal. They are also 30 minutes, however, you are invitedtoamaximumof4parties AllPNMshavetoattendallparties thattheyareinvitedto.
Preference round is the most formal round. All PNMs will only be invited to 1 or 2 parties. During these parties, Pnms will have the opportunity to sit down with a member one on one to discuss why they joined that chapter and everything it has given them. This round is meant to help solidify what chapter you believe is a best fit for yourself. Each party is 50 minutes long, and you must attend all partiesyouareinvitedto.
Bid day is the last day of formal recruitment! All PNMS who have received a bid will be invited to join us at cottrell amphitheater. After opening your bid card you will spend the remainder of the day withyournewsisterhood!
RHO GAMMA: An upper-class sorority woman who has decided to disaffiliate to help PNMs find their home All PNMs will be assigned to a RhoGammaandeachgroupwillbesupervisedbyaHeadRhoGamma.
PARTY: During a recruitment round, every time that a PNM enters a housefor30or50minutes,itiscalledaparty

PLEDGE CLASS: Your pledge class is the other new members that join yoursororityatthesametimeasyou
PHILANTHROPY: The cause each sorority supports Each chapter holdseventsthroughouttheyeartosupporttheirphilanthropy.
There are many topics that you can talk about during every party. The most important part is to be yourself and talk about what you arelookingforinasorority.
Thereare5B'sthatyoucannottalkaboutduringrecruitment. Boys (Fraternities), Booze (Alcohol), Bucks (Money), Bible (religion), and Biden (Politics) These topics aren't related to finding a sisterhood. They shouldn't be brought up by PNMs or active chapter members.
Not everything you read online is true! It is very common to see incorrect information about sororities online during recruitment
The more you read, the more it may influence you and bring you to a chapter that you don't connect with. Furthermore, posting online may get you in trouble if found The best place to talk about your feelingstowardsachapteristoyourRhoGamma.
most of the time, you will be in a big room full of girls during recruitment. there is also a week of classes between some rounds. Rememberthattherearemanygirlsaroundcampusthatarealready in a sorority. Talking about sororities in a bad way or trying to influenceotherPNMsmaygetyouintrouble
You are not allowed to bring anything into the chapter houses Therefore, bringing any bags or purses is not necessary. However, while you are between parties, you will be in a building where you canbringanythingyoumightneedsuchas:
Hairtie Hairbrush
Water Snacks
Femineneproducts
Deoderant
Mints

Sisterhood Round is the most casual round. Panhellenic is providing a t-shirt that all potential new members must wear. However, you have the freedom to wear what you want with the shirt! Wearing a skirt, pants, or something that represents your personality is encouraged! Shoes should be more comfortable for this day, but we do not recommend sneakers due to their informality.
Remember to be yourself, this is a round to create connections and friendships with the members of the chapter This is a first impression for the chapter; therefore, do something or wear something that may standout!
Philanthropy Round is more formal than Sisterhood Round. PNMs are encouraged to wear dresses with more formal shoes, suchasflats, platforms, orlowheels.
This round is an opportunity to discuss any community service you have done in the past, as the chapter members will explain to you how they support their philanthropy. This round may be more sensitive, as it can deal with difficult topics. The best thing you can do is be open and listen to what the chapter members havetosay.
Preference Round is the most formal round. It is highly encouraged that you wear a nice dress or jumpsuit. Shoes should be very formal, therefore heels are suggested. All dressesshouldbeappropriate.
Preference Round is the final round to decide what chapter you want to join. It is a very personal experience for each girl. Think about the chapters you return to, and try and picture yourself there. The girls around you may become your sisters. Ask yourself if that chapter follows your values, if you have made connections, andifyoucanseeyourselfthere
On Bid Day, you will spend most of the day with the chapter you receiveabidfrom Therefore, wesuggestwearingsomethingyou are comfortable in and can move around in, such as athletic wear. You will receive a shirt from your chapter once you run home!
Be open-minded and have fun! This day is to get to know your new sisters and pledge class. The sorority is going to have many events planned, so make sure you have the whole day available. Remember that every sorority on campus has something amazing to offer, so be open-minded when you receive your bid, even if it wasn'twhatyouwereexpecting.
Yes, it is not a common occurrence however you can be dropped from recruitment.
Yes, you are able to send a letter of recommendation. However, they are not required.
You are required to go through the entire formal recruitment process We utilize a mutual selection process, therefore there is no guarantee you will receiveabidtoonespecificchapter.
Yes, you have to attend all events that are required If you are not able to, please contact Panhellenic as soon as possible with your excuse. You must attendallpartiesyouareinvitedto!
It is highly encouraged that you go through the whole process of recruitment. However, if you feel that withdrawing from the recruitment process would be the best decision for you, please speak to your rho gamma whowillguideyouthroughthewithdrawprocess
