No alcohol in my life except a good wine. BeforeI was a party girl, now I am More mature and can say sometimes just to fit in, you do things you don’t really like just for social approval . Nanushka is extending the longevity of its garments in a highly innovative way. The contemporary fashion label has partnered with Eon, a connected products platform, Eon, to turn pieces from its Resort 2021 collection into "intelligent and lifelong digital assets," as described in a press release.

This Connected Fashion initiative was developed to increase the lifetime value for customers, increase revenue from products and track products from new to renew, as a way to benefit the brand's consumers, society and environment.

Selected sustainable garments from the collection will be utilized for the Connected Fashion initiative. These items will come with a QR code that can provide their owners with information on services and amenities that can help extend the longevity of the garment and contribute to a circular fashion economy.

These services include styling insights, instructions for resale, sustainability credentials, services for rental and peer-to-peer sharing and more. “We believe in the vision of a circular economy, and we recognize our responsibility as a brand to proactively take steps towards building a circular fashion system where products and materials are utilised at their most and where connected products enhance the user experience through an increased level of transparency," Sandra Sandor, Nanushka's founder and creative director, said in a press release. "We partnered with Eon, who makes this step possible with their leading connected products technology shaping a better future of consumption and production.�

Selena Gomez Matched Her Blanket to Her Loungewear Like a 2020 Fashion Queen

Over the years, Selena Gomez has provided us with plenty of fashion inspiration, from showing off super sexy bathing suits on Instagram to proving how powerful red outfits can be. So, it only makes sense that, during a time when we're wondering how to feel warm and comfortable while also looking cute, this style icon would guide us yet again, wearing winter outfits that are worth copying.

Sure, many of her recent looks are from the set of her new Hulu comedy, Only Murders in the Building, so there was likely a lot of planning behind what she has on. Still, we can't deny the easiness and versatility of her character's bold, red onesie — err, jumpsuit — and will take it as a reminder that this piece is a good one to have on hand. Not only can it be dressed up or down, and clearly pairs well with lug-sole boots, we're also obsessed with how Gomez spiced it up with a green mask, aka a 2020/2021 take on the old color blocking trick.

We also have a feeling that Gomez's character could be competing with The Undoing's Grace Fraser for the best on-screen coats. She wore two fuzzy, fluffy options while filming, and demonstrated how insanely cool it looks to coordinate your hat with your outerwear, stepping out in a muted-orange and yellow combination.

Still, one could argue that Gomez's best winter fashion trick was something all her own. Outside of her trailer, the actress and singer was seen wearing a comfy, cream-colored loungewear set, which perfectly matched the blanket she had in her hand.

As we wonder what to wear for our at-home holiday and New Year's Eve celebrations, this outfit does feel very 'end of 2020.' Gomez looks ready to cuddle up on the couch, but at the same time, the neutral color scheme comes across as elevated, and she's also wearing the year's ultimate comeback shoe, Ugg boots.

My Story: Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens on Modelling, Activism and More

Nova Stevens’ path to her current career as a model and actress hasn’t come easy. She was born in Kenya to parents who, fleeing the civil war in South Sudan, decided to send her to Canada at the age of six with the hope of providing her a better life and more opportunities. She hasn’t seen her parents in 22 years but lived with various other family members in Alberta and Ontario until the age of 15, when she decided to move out and live on her own. Modelling gigs began coming to her at age 16 and after a brief stint in New York, she moved to Vancouver in 2014 where she began to pursue work as an actress as well as a model.

We caught up with Stevens ahead of the Miss Universe Canada 2020 competition— which she went on to win—to chat with her about why winning this beauty pageant is so important to her, her ongoing work with various non-profit organizations, and her commitment to racial justice.

On her challenging past and journey to success: “I think it definitely made me more resilient. I have to thank my past experiences because they really have shaped me and who I am. If not for the struggles I experienced growing up I don’t think I would be as strong as I am. I don’t think I would have the ability to overcome obstacles that arise out of nowhere. I’m a firm believer that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. It’s a motivating factor to keep pushing and to keep pursuing my dreams. Because not only do I have to be there for myself but also my family who are in a war-torn country with very little resources.”

What is Miss Universe Canada and how did you get involved with it?

Miss Universe Canada is a national beauty pageant whose winners go on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. I first became involved with Miss Universe Canada six years ago—it was my first time competing in a pageant. I didn’t win that year, but I loved competing and knew I had to try again. So, four years later I returned, this time letting my natural hair grow free. It was important for me to compete as my authentic self, and demonstrate to other girls that they don’t need to comply to beauty standards dictated by society. Whether you have dark skin, big lips, hair like wool or a big nose, your features are beautiful and unique, and should be represented in a positive light— because you’re perfect exactly as you are. This year will be my third time competing in Miss Universe Canada, and I am proud to represent all women of colour and showcase my natural, authentic beauty to the world. We deserve to be seen and celebrated, just like everyone else!

Are you excited about the competition on October 24th?

How are you prepping?I am beyond excited! I have worked extremely hard to become the very best version of myself, and I’m thankful to my incredible coaches for helping me prepare. Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova has shared valuable insights, Lucas Mattiello of Level Up Living is helping me improve my public speaking skills and Janina Schmidt with Function Health Club has trained and pushed me to meet my fitness goals. I am extremely grateful for these phenomenal individuals, who not only motivate and inspire me, but also believe in me.

Tell us about the work you do for Keep6ix, Operation Smile and the Black Lives Matter movement in Canada.

I have been working to raise awareness for Keep6ix, who’s mission is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. In essence, they help to rehabilitate individuals who were previously incarcerated by supporting their re-integration back into society, whether finding jobs or returning to school. Operation Smile is the official charity of Miss Universe Canada, and helps children around the world who suffer from cleft lip or cleft palate smile, eat and enjoy life again. I have been fundraising for Operation Smile alongside some of my pageant sisters, and it’s truly a rewarding experience. Recently, Shamika Mitchell and I organized a march in Vancouver that united 15,000 people in solidarity against, hate, injustice and racism towards Black people. We also had the City of Vancouver declare August 1 “Emancipation Day”. I am extremely proud of the work we’ve done, but there is still much left to do—my next goal is to achieve Canada-wide recognition of Emancipation Day.

Take A Deep Dive Into The World’s Most Innovative Speedboat Submarine

To label Victa a submarine would be inaccurate. She’s at once a surface speedboat and a subsurface craft which can transition between the two in a mere 120 seconds.

Victa may look like something from a James Bond movie, but beneath her domineering surface there’s more to her than an 007 movie prop. “There's very little about Victa that's not very cool,” says Scott Verney, CEO of the company behind the vessel, SubSea Craft. And we have to agree.

A beast on top of, and below, the water’s surface, she features state-of-the-art control and communications systems and an efficient engine enabling her to achieve speeds of up to 40 knots over a range of 250nm, aiding her to sneak up on other vessels or swim alongside whales, depending on your requirements. Plus, she’s built in such a way that she doesn’t need a deployment vessel, so if you want to drop her from an aircraft or sail her from a port, you can.

The craft’s primary three markets are defence, research and leisure, but don’t be mistaken for thinking the latter means she’s meant for cruising. “It's not a submersible where you sit drinking champagne,” Verney says, “you're going to have to get your hands wet.”

As the build gets underway at SubSea Craft’s base in Havant, England, we speak to Verney about the development of Victa and her potential for world-changing subsea exploration.

Tell us about the journey of SubSea Craft.SubSea Craft was founded by our current chairman Graham Allen. About five years ago, he had an idea and together with a small team of engineers to design the concept of what we call a ‘diver delivery unit’. It’s a hybrid between a surface speed boat and a subsurface craft which can transition. Then, they decided to partner with a number of companies who provided the design for the hull and the control system, and that's where Victa was born. The company has grown around that.

Who makes up the current team?We are an advanced maritime technology business, about 20 strong. The team is made up of a mix of highly capable people from various backgrounds. There is a smattering of military – I'm ex-navy (21 years), as is our CEO, and our CCO is a marine. Then we've got some really clever maritime engineers. The final piece of the jigsaw is our operator who comes from a special operations background and is world leading in terms of piloting these craft underwater. As we have the knowledge and the expertise from an operator’s perspective, we've been able to design the craft from the user outwards.

Who is the target buyer for a vessel like this?When Graham started the company, the initial idea was the leisure sector, but it became very apparent very quickly that the level of tech we were talking about lent itself to a wider and potentially bigger market in defence and security. We've gone in a bit of a circle, however, because we believe there is a market in leisure – in particular in extreme sports. This market is interested in having something that is cutting edge. With our defence background, it also provides a guarantee of safety to the high-end market – they know they’re not dealing with a tinpot organization. We also believe that there's a market in the research science arena.

No. Our single focus product at the moment is getting is getting Victa done. We do, however, have a couple of things that we’re considering going forward such as alternative power trains and sustainability. That sounds a bit cliché but it's important.

So, our future plans will incorporate more sustainability and potential derivatives of Victa with the same function. And then, in time, who knows what transformational products may arise from advanced maritime tech. However, the short-term plan is entirely focused around Victa.

Wafai Envisions The Scandinavian Seashell House As a Museum of Life

Driven by the desire to minimize his design’s carbon footprint, Italian architect, Wafai Envisions is revered for his protean ability to transform any space into what he defines as “a museum of life”.Inspired by the enchanting curvature of a seashell, Wafai utilizes an environmental and sustainable approach to constructing modern residential projects through the integration of passive cooling, and natural sunlight, as well as, reused and recycled material.

Wafai Envisions The Scandinavian Seashell House As a Museum of Life Compartmentalized into three main sections, the Scandinavian Seashell House features open-concept living areas with a kitchen, dining space and living room, plus two bedrooms, baths, an outdoor swimming pool and recreational area. Offering access to a private garden through large, roofless glass cylinders, the living area’s furniture is outward-facing, toward an enormous circular glass window – a deliberate and calculated decision in maximizing relaxation.

Obscuring the boundaries between a perceived indoor and outdoor space, the house is lined with exquisite plant life, further emphasizing the design’s connection with its natural environment.

While the Scandinavian Seashell House is habitable, Wafai Envisions has proposed plans to fabricate the space in a structural system of glulam timber frames filled with natural straw insulation – made entirely out of recycled wood such that each shingle expresses its own unique and distinctive shade to create a complex exterior pattern.

Q&A With Moncler’s Remo Ruffini On Stone Island Partnership, 2021 And Beyond

It's been a busy month already for Remo Ruffini, the chairman, and CEO of Moncler, and there are still almost two weeks to go. This December, he has: opened a flagship store on the historic Champs Élysées; teamed up with Extreme E, the new electric offroad racing series and killed it on TikTok with the #MONCLERBUBBLEUP, which garnered two billion views thanks to platform superstar Charli D'Amelio.

Most importantly, he will buy 100 percent shares of Stone Island, the Italian sportswear brand helmed by Carlo Rivetti, for a cool 1.15 billion Euros. According to Bloomberg, the buy is comprised of 70% from Stone Island’s parent company SPW from Chief Executive Officer Carlo Rivetti and other family members. Moncler will also buy the remaining 30% from Singapore’s state investor Temasek.

His keen business acumen sensed the two brands had plenty to gain from one another. Together united by their "beyond fashion, beyond luxury" philosophy, Ruffini hopes to steer the two brands to last for decades and beyond.

Ruffini corresponded with me via email to share with Forbes what comes next.

Moncler emerged in growth mode for 2020, while others were devoid of growth or at the end of the line. Ruffini breaks down his intuitive approach to helming the outerwear and now sportswear brand.

Ruffini: Things happen by chance, but not accidentally. One day Romeo, my son, told me: "I heard Carlo Rivetti from Stone Island talking, and I felt like I heard you. The same words, the same obsession with quality, the same vision. You should get to know him".

It all started there.

I was looking for the next step for Moncler. Something that could bring value and continue developing the brand's spirit in a new form of luxury.

The first time I met Mr. Rivetti, I immediately realized that we share the same vision and that he was the right person to shape the future together.

Ruffini: In a certain way, the pandemic accelerated the considerations I was making, which caused me to contact Stone Island. I had a growing concern that luxury was becoming boring and losing its capacity to talk to young generations.

The only hesitation was that it might not have been respectful of the moment to announce this transaction.

But, in the end, I came to the conviction that this could be a positive message for Italy. I definitively think it is.

Ruffini: We don't see this as an acquisition but a meeting of minds with shared commitment and creative ambition. This agreement brings together two Italian entrepreneurs, two Italian families, two companies, and two exceptionally strong brands for a joint project.

For a long time, I have been looking around for a company that would allow me to create value for Moncler and that could accelerate our growth path, which is not completed yet and still has the potential to go further.

Ruffini: Stone Island is a company that has been able to build a strong relationship with its community and has a very pure and distinctive positioning. It reminded me of Moncler 10 years ago. It is a great company with great potential.

Moncler will share its knowledge and experience with Stone Island to fully express its growth potential in the Americas and Asian markets, particularly in the direct-toconsumer channel, alongside its strong sustainability culture.

Ruffini: The pandemic has accelerated processes and changes that were already on their way. We learned to train, work, and buy online, with the support of digital tools like video messaging, digital appointment, and WhatsApp.

Lesley Ann Warren Reflects On 35 Years Of ‘Clue’ And A Life-Long Journey In Hollywood

Lesley Ann Warren has been a Hollywood star since she was a girl. First playing the title character of the CBS television special Cinderella in 1965, Warren has devoted her life to the arts and often finds the fun in embodying characters that allow her to take on larger than life personas that are often socially unacceptable by society standards.

Arguably the most outlandish is her iconic character “Miss Scarlet” from the 1985 cult classic Clue. A murder mystery comedy based on the popular board game, Clue is wrapping up its 35th anniversary this year since originally arriving in movie theaters and Warren may be surprising some by revealing that this role that ultimately changed her life, almost wasn’t hers at all.

Warren recalls the moment she learned she got the part, instead of the film’s first casting choice, a well-known “Princess Leia” at the time. “I remember that I was in Greece with my family taking a vacation. I got this call that they had originally, I believe, they were going to have Carrie Fisher do it. And Carrie had to go to rehab,” Warren tells Forbes. “It’s a famous story, so I’m not telling you anything out of school. She felt she could do it, even while she was in rehab but they disagreed. So it just somehow came to me. I didn’t audition, I didn’t meet the director, any of it. It just came to me as a straight offer, which was fabulous. I read the script and of course said yes immediately.

I was glad it came my way.”

Numbers may not always narrate the complete story when it comes to beauty trends— how to cut men’s hair at home and how to plop hair got the most clicks on Google in 2020. It might be easy to presume that beauty took a sabbatical this year, but it was far from it. Masks were plentiful, as were Skittles manicures and Euphoria aesthetics. As the pandemic played out, beauty got polarised. On one side it was practical and edited, spotlighting sheer finishes and natural lashes. And for some, it was an escape.

As the year comes to a close, we're brimming with enthusiasm over the possibilities of what 2021 may bring. While some totems of 2020 (read: masks) may roll over, experimenting with beauty will continue to be cathartic and fun.

Up ahead, three celebrity experts, nail artist Betina R Goldstein, makeup artist Namrata Soni and hairstylist Justine Marjan, give us a peek into the proverbial crystal ball to check out the beauty trends that’ll shape 2021. Some are revivals of past trends, and many are a breath of fresh air.

Although the pandemic put a pause on outings, Namrata Soni feels we have pushed forward with skincare-consciousness. “Since people had some extra time because of the lockdown, there was increased awareness to take care of the skin and interest in makeup. This is such a refreshing change, where people realise that your skin routine is what matters the most.
