Council approves two planned developments, one will eliminate sewer debt and expedite wastewater treatment plant Tuesday’s city council meeting was one that is a game changer for Howe. The PD-4 approval means Howe will be able to eliminate the sewer debt to the City of Sherman and expedite the process of building its own wastewater treatment plant. Approximately 1,000 homes will be built south of the Summit Hill addition which will bring millions of dollars in tax base to our community. This is music to the ears of the economic development department by the way. ***** President Trump made a “major announcement” by announcing his line of NFT trading cards depicting him as a superhero. Whoever was behind this move on his staff needs to immediately be fired. Although, they did sell out and raise over $5 million. But nonetheless, it was poor timing for the MAGA crowd as they got what they wanted, but it was drowned out by the ridiculous trading cards fiasco that the DC media bombarded him on. But he did follow that with a 6-minute message which was really good and called for a Digital Bill of Rights, a ban of federal agencies to collude and censor Americans, ban taxpayer dollars to be used to label “mis-” or “disinformation.” He called for the prosecution of any and all crimes associated with censorship, a revision of Section 230, suspending federal funding for universities that have engaged in censorship. He said he would do these things “upon my inauguration.” Not “if I’m elected.” EDITOR’S NOTE—This column is reserved as an editorial column and may not necessarily reflect the policy of this publication.

“I agreed to the appointment of Howe City Council because I care about preserving what makes Howe a great town,” said Myrick. “What makes us great is the family atmosphere whether that’s at church, downtown, or at a football game. Howe City Council members discuss the planned agreements in Tuesday night’s meeting. Staff photo. At the Tuesday City Council meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) and the city council voted unanimously in favor of two planned developments that would replace the current zoning in place. Planned Development 4 (PD-4) rezones 219.798 acres adjacent to the Summit Hill development to the south and was approved for a residential-only development. It was previously zoned SF-1. The PD-4 allows the city to obtain additional resources and improvements from the developer. PD-4 consists of three tracts of which two are owned by the same investor, Howe Land Partners LLC. The owner of

the third tract, Cothran Malibu, also owns a section of land that was also rezoned Tuesday called Planned Development 5 (PD-5) which has a commercial and multifamily component to its property. The development agreement in PD-4 is ready for development and addresses various infrastructure and utility issues. The PD-5 is not project ready and does not have provisions for water or sewer. It will keep its current C-2 (commercial) status. The change allowed for the limited multifamily behind the commercial dividing line within the 110 acres of the property. (Continued on page 3)
