Keep Howe Beautiful was hoping for larger turnout for Freedom Rock fundraiser There’s a lot to be thankful for. All you have to do is look around. ***** The City of Howe was working on a water main last week. During the work, air was allowed to penetrate the system which created a milky or cloudy look to the water. The folks over at City Hall said it was perfectly fine to drink that the air pressure causes that look. ***** “Al Stricklin” over on Castlegate Street already had his Christmas lights placed on their house early last week which raised some eyebrows in our household as to why our wasn’t done. To make matters worse, the young neighbors next door decided this would be their year to become the young Griswolds. Needless to say, this ol’ Grinch had to get to work on Sunday stringing our tired old lights that apparently need to be replaced and updated. Thankfully, someone came home from college for the holiday and helped. ***** Madelyn Orochena was originally declared the victor of a race for a seat on the Kennesaw City Council in Cobb County, Georgia, however, officials discovered a memory card with hundreds of uncounted votes on it which reversed the election result. Orochena's competitor, Lynnette Burnette eventually came in first by 31 votes. Orochena, set to be sworn in on Monday, called the incident "shameful" and claimed that "our faith in our governing bodies continues to fail."
