Heroic turnout for Howe-lloween despite the weather Election Day, November 8th, is rapidly approaching. Early voting started October 24 and ends November 4. ***** Bulldog Stadium’s new turf held up well in the hard driving rain Friday night. If the turf were not installed, the game likely would have been moved to Thursday eliminating all sub-varsity games. ***** The states that had covered their windows during the vote counting, and allowed mass mail-in ballots and ballot harvesting (Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia) that eventually swung the 2020 presidential election are correcting the situation legally through the courts. Meanwhile, Texas Republicans seem arrogant or ignorant about election integrity. Just four dirty counties could give the oil and gas state a Green New Governor. Bar codes and QR codes don’t belong on ballots. It’s not transparent. ***** The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce is holding a gun raffle thanks to Guns N More. It’s an Armscor Custom Texas 911 that retails for $775. Raffle tickets are $20 each and can be purchased online here. Proceeds benefit Secret Santa in Howe. (See page 11). ***** Basketball season is beginning for the Lady Bulldogs. None of the girls in the high school program were alive the last time Derek Lands wasn’t the head coach. Ashley Anderson will be leading the charge this fall and winter. EDITOR’S NOTE—This column is reserved as an editorial column and may not necessarily reflect the policy of this publication.
