A full page ad comes with a banner hung at the stadium and is moved to the high school gymnasium after the season. Full page ads with a banner are $475. Half page ads are $200, Quarter page ads are $150, and 1/8 page ads are $75. Student ads are a very popular item, and a full page student ad is $150, half page $100, Quarter page is $75, and 1/8 page is $60. New dentist, same Howe Family Dentistry For many years, a staple business in Howe has been Howe Family Dentistry operated by Michael Karleskint, DDS, and his wife Jane. The Karleskint family has opted for a much deserved retirement and has sold the practice to John Sunnucks, DDS who along with his wife Julie, is operating the business in the same fashion as the Karleskints. Sunnucks is originally from Abilene, Texas where his father retired from the US Air Force in that area. He’s a 1988 graduate of Abilene Cooper High School and graduated from HardinSimmons University in his hometown in 1992. John Sunnucks and his

The City of Howe will have their monthly City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 19 at 6 pm at 700 W. Haning Street. One of the topics on the agenda will be a consideration of moving $50,000 from the Reserve Fund to purchase park equipment for Memorial Park. City officials say the expenditure will serve as matching funds for a much greater amount which will enhance the park by a great deal. The following agenda item is to enter into a lease/purchase agreement with the city and Independent Bank for the purchase of the equipment. The city will also discuss the Keep Howe Beautiful Memorial Park request, the removal of Red Boxes, and insurance paid from Texas Municipal League.

Things were strange in 1942. The world was at war. Howe’s Head Football Coach H.A. McDonald resigned after one season where Howe went 6-3 in 1941 and
scored 132 points while allowing 87. In March of ‘42, Howe hired Mrs. Charles R. Thompson to fill the vacancy, but obviously, she was not a football coach. She was to
teach until another coach could be selected. Later in the month, the school board approved the hire of J.D. Cochran of Dallas to be the coach, but he (Continued on page 4)
