Undefeated champions With rising fuel costs, we’re all having to adjust our budgets. Howe ISD is no different as they had to nearly double their annual transportation budget from $60,000 to $100,000 for the upcoming school year. Just imagine if Howe was still planted in the Little Big XII with Mount Vernon, Mineola, Winnsboro, and Rains. That would be a high-dollar punch in the gut. ***** Lone Star Hoops Camp begins today in Howe. For the last few years, the attendance has deflated from 100-plus to around 70-80. It’s an all day camp for a week which could scare off some of today’s kids who just can’t depart from their electronics that long. ***** According to Yahoo News, Chevron saw $6.3 billion in profits last quarter which was up from $1.4 billion a year ago. For Exxon Mobil, profits more than doubled in the same period, to $5.5 billion. We haven’t seen enormous profits like this since November 2021 when Pfizer reported adjusted earnings of $7.7 billion, up 133% from a year earlier. Revenue soared to $24.1 billion, up 134%. Speaking of vaccines, Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) is showing 28,859 vaccine-related deaths since the beginning of 2021. The previous high for any year was 602. ***** Everyone's all upset with Biden but Woodrow Wilson is the biggest culprit of the American decline. Howe ISD sets 2022-23 budget at $18.5 million The Howe Independent School District’s Board of Trustees formally approved the 2022-23 budget after working on it for several months. The result was a budget figure of $18,524,955. Of that, $15,043,088 was allotted for the General Fund which includes teacher salaries and items such as transportation. Food Service consisted of $714,000 which is a deficit from the $545,232 in revenue. The shortage is due to the decision by the government last year to absorb food cost for students regardless of economic standing. The ISD does not expect federal food funding this year.

This past Monday, 134 people entered the library to see the performance by Rob Holladay, the “Magical Balloon Guy.” Today (Monday), the

library will be hosting a “Touch a Truck” with all kinds of cool vehicles for the kids to get a chance to see up close and personal. A helicopter and a large crane are two of many options that will be onsite. The library is also offering a “Books on the Move” program where they travel to different locations for story time and activities for kids.
