Apparently a longest ball competition took place on the golf course recently between some Howe High School players and their coaches. The final score was 79-87 with the youngsters out-dueling their coaches. Rumor has it trash-talking was record-high as Talan Haley and Colton Little defeated Zac Cater and Winston Mosse. ***** Several years ago, during special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Trump/Russia, the news media was obsessive with non-stop coverage about it. They are ironically completely silent now that special counsel John Durham is actually trying Michael Sussman, one of the actual perpetrators of the Trump/Russia scam. Most people aren't even aware that the trial is going on. And that tells you all you need to know. ***** Almost half of Joe Biden's current 22.2 million followers on Twitter are fake accounts, according to an audit tool provided by software company SparkToro. It makes you wonder what percentage of his ballots were also fake. EDITOR’S NOTE—This column is reserved as an editorial column and may not necessarily reflect the policy of this publication.

New members sworn into Howe ISD Board of Trustees
Greg Akins was awarded for his service to the Howe ISD Board of Trustees. Staff photo. Greg Akins officially stepped down from the Howe ISD Board of Trustees for what he says is the last time. Howe ISD Superintendent Kevin Wilson jokingly said Akins played the role of a spare tire that people forget about. When Josh Vincent resigned, Akins was appointed to fill in for the remainder of the term. “I thank you for that. You truly helped us out and it was an easy transition with your experience,” said Wilson. Akins said this was without a doubt his last time. “If you need anybody else, just check on down the list,” said Akins. “The spare tire is gone.”

Georgia Richardson was instrumental in Howe’s financial recovery during the beginning of her term as a city council member. The city was seeking council on how to operate without cash as all of the reserves were nearly gone. “2010 was a bad year for us and it remained bad for three or four or five years for us to get back on our feet,” said Richardson during her final
comment from her seat. During the 2010 year, there were layoffs of city workers and police officers. “I think we’re in good shape right now and it’s a good time for me to step down and let someone else have it,” said Richardson. Soon after was the swearing-in of former (Continued on page 3)
Howe ISD Supt. Kevin Wilson Howe ISD Superintendent Kevin Wilson stated that enrollment for April ended with 1,236 students which is down two from March. However, the average daily attendance was up by 18. He accepted resignations from Brittany Hamilton, Darby Bryant, Christy Young, and Debbie Walters. Wilson said some are moving to different districts and some are following their husband, and some are changing careers, and one is retiring. The school board has final hiring authority with the exception of the final May board meeting until September where the superintendent has final authority to expedite the hiring process. This was approved to be pushed back to April in order to grant a contract in a quick enough time to not miss out on potential teachers and staff. He mentioned that graduation will take place at 2 pm on May 28 at the Howe High School Gymnasium.
