Wallace Citizen of the Year Friday at the Hall of Honor. Brent Brunner will be named the Jean Norman Volunteer of the Year. Guns N More will be awarded the Business of the Year and the Friends of the Library will receive the Volunteer Organization of the Year. Tickets will be $15 at the door and coffee and cookies will be served by Keep Howe Beautiful. Tickets can also be purchased online at this link. ***** Never pick a fight with people who buy ink by the barrel. - Mark Twain. ***** The Howe Parent Teachers Organization (PTO) announced on social media that they do not have enough board members for the 2022-2023 school year and will have to dissolve the organization if they can’t get volunteers. Volunteers are hard to come by these days. Speaking of, one of the absolute saddest days have come for Howe sports. The Lopez twins are officially done with sports. Voter turnout in Grayson County was 9.28 percent which is surprisingly low considering what has taken place over the last two years. But in Howe, the turnout was slightly up from 481 total ballots cast in 2021 to 544 this year. The City of Howe did not hold an election as former City Administrator Joe Shephard filed for the vacated council position of Georgia Richardson, who stepped down after seven consecutive terms. His term will begin at the end of this month.

Founders Day weekend kicks of Friday with Howe Hall of Honor, festival Saturday

Bulldogs swept in two games by 20th ranked Prairiland

The 36th Annual Founders Day Festival is Saturday from 2 pm—8 pm and will feature Justin Pickard and the Thunderbird Winos on stage beginning at 5:30 pm. The event is hosted by the Howe Area Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by 903 Brewers. This year’s event will feature wine-tasting, a hot dog eating contest, a dunking booth, kid train, food, cold 903 drinks, shopping, and more.

The festivities kick off Friday night at Summit Gardens when the chamber will honor their Norma J. Wallace Citizen of the Year, Jean Norman Volunteer of the Year, Business of the Year, and Volunteer Organization of the Year. Also that night, Roger Tidwell, Dale and Lana Rideout, and Shawn “Moondog” Fountain will be inducted into the Howe Hall of Honor Class of 2022. Tickets for the awards ceremony are $15 and can be found here.

It took nearly as long to drive to Paris as it did to watch game one which finished in an hour and a half.
