Closing out 2021 for Sudden youth movement sees Lady the City of Howe Bulldogs play well in Holiday Classic Quietly without media attention, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has withdrawn the PCR process as a valid test for detecting and identifying SARS-CoV-2. “After December 31, 2021, CDC will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, the assay first introduced in February 2020 for detection of SARS-CoV-2 only.” The CDC admits that the PCR test cannot differentiate between SARSCoV-2 and influenza viruses. The Howe Enterprise even wrote an article March 1 entitled “What happened to the flu?” This admission means our kids’ lives were interrupted for absolutely no reason whatsoever. $hame on the CDC. We submitted that article to the Texas Medical Association for the Anson Jones award. I highly doubt we win or even hear back. Each year the Howe Lady Bulldogs (7-14, 1-2) head west after the holidays for the NCTC Holiday Classic. In Lindsay, the town known for big barbecue smokehouses and speed traps have seen the Howe girls throughout the years head in as the favorites to win the tournament and during rebuilding seasons, they want to gain valuable experience. This year’s team was intended to be a blend of veteran talent and upcoming young starters to help alleviate the pains of a full-on youth movement. However, with the loss of senior scoring leader Trinity Williams and senior Avery Snapp, the floor has been left virtually for the ‘young guns’ save for senior Landery Sanders and recent floor time for senior Rylee Burris.

The rest of those on the floor would dominate at the junior varsity level, but the situation calls for young players to step up in bigger roles. Kendall Griffin is a 2year starter as a sophomore with fellow sophomores Matalee Stewart and Emery Snapp making big strides with lots of minutes each game lately. Reese Smith, another sophomore has filled the gaps also.

blood running through her veins as her mother Amy Campbell was a 4year varsity starter for the Lady Bulldogs from 1989-1992. Although the Lady Bulldogs have a young roster, this isn’t Derek Lands’ first rodeo in that arena. The veteran coach with 458 career wins has often put freshmen and sophomores on the floor which resulted in dynamic payoffs and playoffs when they became juniors and seniors. That card is obviously being played again by Lands and on Tuesday night, Lands flipped an ace in Griffin and a queen in Sanders for a 50-41 win over Class 4A Gainesville. Howe jumped out to a 16 -10 lead after the first quarter and fought off a hard-charging Lady Lion push that made it 24-23 at the half. Eventually in the third, Gainesville would tie the game at 33(Continued on page 4)
