The Howe Bulldogs (4-3) began the week ranked 23rd in Texas by MaxPreps.com, but will not see that high of a ranking this week as they went 2-2 over the weekend.

Howe beat Celeste 52-41 on Friday night on the road. The Dogs second quarter provided the separation needed as sophomore Jacob Campbell scored 11 of the 23 Howe points during the quarter. The Blue Devils only tallied 12 in the same period. Campbell finished with a teamhigh 20 points with junior Austin Haley adding 10. Eli Wilson had a big start to the game with six of his eight points coming in the first quarter.

After the win, Howe entered the S&S Tournament where they faced off with Slidell and lost a nail-biter, 38-36. Head Coach Jay Forsythe said the team didn’t shoot well and was disappointed by the 26 percent shooting from (Continued on page 9)

the field and 40 percent from the free throw line. Howe missed three open shots in the last few seconds to tie game.

Campbell led Howe with 12 points with Luke Lopez adding nine. Other scorers were Ethan Lopez (6), Jones (6), and Haley (3).

Howe rebounded quite nicely to beat Denison’s JV 47-30. Forsythe said the tired legs made for more ill shooting. But Campbell again led Howe with 18 points as the Dogs raced out to a 17-6 first quarter lead and a 29-16 halftime lead.

Other scorers were sophomore Cooper Jones (9), Haley (6), Ethan Lopez (5), Wilson (4), Luke Lopez (3), and Zac Defrange (2).

The Bulldogs lost to McKinney Boyd’s JV by a score of 52-49. Haley and Campbell each finished with 12 points to lead the Dogs. Wilson chipped in nine while Luke Lopez added seven. Other scorers were Ethan Lopez
