Pride of Howe going ‘off the rails’ in 2021 It’s always sketchy writing an article about an English teacher. Yes, we won the English award in high school, yada yada, but it also once looked like my teacher must have suffered a stab wound to the eyebrow once while grading one of my essays. Hopefully I won’t get this edition graded and handed back to me. Congrats to Mrs. Nail and the honor is well deserved. She received a welldeserved award. (See what I did there?) ***** For the eighth consecutive season, we will broadcast Howe Bulldogs football live on our website and on YouTube. The same crew will return with Justin White, Caroline Slawson, Blake Burnett, Carson Grogan, and Jake Roberts. Please do business with our sponsors. They make it happen. Hard to believe this will be my 28th season overall to broadcast football games on Friday nights. What I miss the most about 6A football is the comfy roomy press boxes. I got my eyes on 2024. Football players will think they have it rough this week during 2-a-days, but they should look no further than a few yards away from the practice field where the band went through 3-a-days last week from 9am to 9pm. The 3-time State Champion Pride of Howe began their preparations for the 2021 season and revealed that the theme this year will be “Off

halftime shows are always a fun way to showcase their talents to a big audience,

Nothing beats Blue Bell Ice Cream in Texas on a hot day. And especially free Blue Bell Ice Cream. Chris Cavender, a graduate of Howe High School, will once again host a Blue Bell Ice Cream Social through his Cavender Home Theater business. This year’s event will take place this Thursday, August 5 at 6:30 pm at the Howe Area Chamber of Commerce/EDC Office at

101 E. Haning Street. For the first time, the DISH provider will be serving up Root Beer Floats also. The free event began in 2015 and has taken place each year since with the exception of 2017. Lasty year’s event was a drive-thru due to COVID, but 2021 plans on being back to the traditional style. It’s a free event and all are welcome.
