City Council approves engineer study for sewer treatment plant “In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” George Orwell ***** All crooked roads lead to the CFR. ***** “If the American people ever allow the banks to control the issuance of their currency, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property, until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.” - Thomas Jefferson. Unfortunately, the bank control Jefferson warned us about happened several times throughout our history and the latest being the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913 which is just as much a federal agency as Federal Express. That led to this quote from Woodrow Wilson in 1919: “I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A

The City Council of Howe met Tuesday, June 29, to discuss the matter of the sewer contract with the City of Sherman. The contract originally dates back to 1968, but the two cities have a long history of lawsuits and renegotiations over the years. On Tuesday, the council met behind closed doors in executive session for a short period of time and came out with a clear and direct roadmap. The
council authorized the city administrator to execute a professional services agreement with EST, an engineering firm, for services related to the site, planning for a new wastewater treatment plant. There was no discussion of where the plant could eventually be constructed, however, due to gravitational flow, the northwest side of Howe near FM 902 makes
Members of the Howe City Council voted unanimously to approve an engineer study for a city-owned wastewater treatment plant. the most logical sense. The City of Howe last owned their own wastewater treatment plant in the late 1960s which was located at the current site of Bicentennial Park located at what is now “North Field”, the 1214U baseball field.
One can envision a bond package that could include a treatment plant returned to that location with a baseball/softball complex as part of the same bond to be constructed at Jones Park, a 46-acre city-owned area that is currently unused. However, a plant in 2021 or 2031
would most likely need to be much larger than the current Bicentennial Park grounds. Currently, the City of Howe has room for approximately 200300 homes to be added to the current sewer system under contract with Sherman.
Former SOSU hurler will guide Howe 8U comes the Bulldogs baseball program up short in finals The Howe Bulldogs will have a new head baseball coach for the 2022 season and Cody Nitson has been hired to replace Ryan Moreau who left for an assistant coach position for the Sherman Bearcat. Nitson, a 25-year-old coach’s kid is originally of Wills Point, Texas, but graduated from Caddo Mills in 2014 where his dad was a coach. In coaching and in most professions, it can be “who you
know” that can propel you into your next opportunity and his dad Gene Nitson has most recently been an assistant coach under Zack Hudson at Mabank. It was Hudson, the former Howe athletic director that got the interview for Cody Nitson with now Athletic Director Bill Jehling. In high school, Nitson was a 3-year starting pitcher and was a workhorse in his final two seasons by throwing the most pitches of anyone in the district. He was named
Cody Nitson first team cooffensive player of the year in 2014 and first team all-district pitcher in 2013. (Continued on page 4)
