COLD SHOT

Last-second heave from half court ends Howe’s season The ratings for Super Bowl 55 are in, and the news is not good. The numbers show that viewership fell nine percent, making the game the lowestrated Super Bowl in more than 50 years. ***** Only in America can you find a kid wearing $150 tennis shoes, drinking a $5 cup of coffee, typing on his $1,000 cell phone complaining on social media that he is oppressed, and that capitalism has failed. ***** It was found out last week that Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban stopped playing the National Anthem this season prior to games. The NBA later made a statement on Wednesday that all teams must play “The Star Spangled Banner” before each game for the remainder of the season due to ’tradition’ and apparently not for “love of country.” Later that night, the Dunhuang Mavericks defeated the Xingning

Trash Pickup 2nd Friday of each month in Howe.

On a night where it was 26 degrees in the parking lot just feet away from inside the Whitewright High School gym, the chilly temperature was no match for the ice cold shooting in the final seconds of the game. With 2.2 seconds remaining, Howe senior Jake Fabacher put the finishing touches on a 3-point play to give Howe a 46-45 coldblooded lead and seemingly place the Bulldogs in the playoffs—a place where no Howe boys

team has been since the 2017-18 school year. But the ensuing inbound to Whitewright found its way into the hands of Aaron Pitt who heaved a last-second shot just inside the midcourt stripe that sailed off the backboard and into the net thus giving Whitewright the unbelievable 48-46 win and concluding the Bulldogs season as playoff hopes ended with the coldest shot of them all.
