Bulldogs rocked 48-8 in “The Burg” to open the season

It’s officially that time of year to dust off the fantasy football playbook. A group we’re involved with began back in 1995 and are now in season number 26 for our league. A few of us joked about the old days when we had to institute a bylaw back in the late 1990s that stipulated that anyone without an email address was not permitted to participate. Getting stats for fantasy football has come a long way. Back in the day, if you wanted immediate stats, there were some talk radio shows late on Sunday nights on the very staticky AM radio, but nothing was official until the Dallas Morning News came out with their stats. With my parents always saying, ‘we didn’t have microwave ovens and color television’ I always wondered what I would tell my kids. Apparently, it’s ‘we didn’t have the fancy internet and each encyclopedia and dictionary at our fingertips, sonny boy.’ By the way, the number one pick was Patrick Mahomes. Yes, this comes even when Baker, Kyler, or Jalen were on the table. EDITOR’S NOTE—This column is reserved as an opinion column and may not necessarily reflect the policy of this publication.

But the Wildcats defense was too much for the Dog linemen to handle as Howe quarterback Austin Haley was sacked eight times throughout the game and never had time to set up the passing game. The running game of Howe

was stagnant also but for a few good gainers from fullback Carson Daniels and late carries by Matthew Hayes. The result, a 48-8 loss for Howe which saw Callisburg rack up 492 total yards, 405 of which on the ground. It’s the third game in a row going back to last season that Howe’s allowed over 400 yards in a game. It’s the ninth time since the beginning of the 2018 season. Coupled with that was the offense which only gained 152 total yards on the night which was the fewest since November 2, 2018 when Van Alstyne held Howe to
