Season 77 begins Friday at Callisburg
There was an outdoor demonstration last week that involved individuals carrying signs and walking the streets to claim it was unsafe to go outdoors to vote in person. Regardless of how you feel about mail -in-voting, that was a bit humorous. Unfortunately for the protesters, it went viral where conservatives shared it all over social media. Mail-in-voting seems to be the wild card for Democrats as they are pushing hard for some alternative to the standard procedures of voting. Perhaps they should just make Walmart and Lowe’s a voting location. There seems to be no issues there. The football season starts Friday. Rain or shine let’s get this on. Anyone who loves the high school game has to be in somewhat of a giddy mood. In our case, we’ve been preparing for this week since the Lady Bulldogs were defeated late in the basketball playoffs. Never did we see what transpired soon afterward when the entire world basically came to a halt thanks to the coronavirus. 2020 has certainly been a bad year for everyone and that includes Goodyear. The Howe Bulldogs will begin season number 77 on Friday at Callisburg. The Dogs will bring to the contest a significant amount of returning starters on offense including sophomore quarterback Austin Haley, senior running back Jalen Thornton, senior receiver Jordan Jones, sophomore fullback Carson Daniels, sophomore center Matthew Bearden, senior guard Jackson Adkins, and senior tackle Brantly Flynn. The defense will only return tackle seniors Dakota Herrington, nose tackle Jackson Adkins, and Jones and Thornton in the secondary. But several players had significant amount of experience returning from a season ago including a pair of sophomores, linebacker Carson Daniels, and lineman Matthew Bearden. Howe is very young with several underclassmen expected to play a significant role in this year’s team. Sophomore wide receiver Ryan Hough has a long history of touchdown receptions from Haley.
