Having coached most of those boys since they were five, six, or seven, the exciting part for me now will be to watch them grow into good husbands and fathers. “Just a little bit west of North Carolina”
Jay Forsythe is Howe’s newest Head Basketball Coach. Staff photo.
The Howe Bulldogs boys varsity basketball team has hired their fourth head coach in three seasons as Jay Forsythe has been hired to takeover the program. A year ago, Mike Segleski stepped in for Nate Lynch who had previously been hired to be the front man of the program. The Dogs ended up with an 8-19 record including 2-10 in district play. Howe Athletic Director Bill Jehling sought out a new coach for that program and he found Forsythe who has spent most of his career coaching
basketball in North Carolina. “Basketball in North Carolina is equivalent to Texas High School football,” said Forsythe on the importance of the sport. Forsythe grew up in Augusta, Georgia attending the Masters every year. He was a high school football player who played college ball at North Greenville University, a Baptist university in Tigerville, South Carolina. He was also a high school basketball and track athlete. (Continued on page 2)
