Howe’s Honore takes District MVP honors It’s not every day that I walk away from an offer to become the play-by-play voice of a professional football team. But I fielded an opportunity from a team in the Indoor Football League last week to be their play-by-play voice for the 14 games to be aired on the radio. It would be yet another iron in the fire to an already time consumed arena for me. Even with it being a weekend gig, the time constraints with all-things Howe, I wasn’t able to come to an agreement that would satisfy both parties. But it was cool to meet with the ownership group. Had things worked out in the arrangement that I preferred, I’d be taking weekend flights to broadcast games in Green Bay and Oakland just to mention a couple over the 14 weeks. But, my priorities are to my family and Howe, Texas and I have much to do here. Fifteen years ago, I’d have jumped at the chance. Maybe today’s not the time, but tomorrow may be. In the meantime, I’ll be preparing for my Howe broadcasts. It’s not Green Bay or Oakland, but it’s home. And that matters. The Howe Lady Bulldogs ended their historic season over the weekend and today the district awards were released with Howe taking numerous honors. Howe senior Jenna Honore was named the District 103A MVP with teammates Ally Harvey becoming the District Defensive MVP. The two flipped places from a year ago when Honore was the Defensive MVP and Harvey was the District MVP. Junior Sierra Copeland was named the District’s Offensive MVP. Howe sophomore Trinity Williams brings home the District’s Sixth Person Award and the Howe coaching staff shared the top honors with Bells.
