County Commissioner Pct. 1 candidates Lady Bulldogs playoffs tip-off fielded questions in Howe Thursday Tuesday in Celina against Pilot Point The Howe Lady Bulldogs (25-6, 11-1) will begin the playoffs Tuesday night in Celina against the Pilot Point Lady Bearcats (1018, 8-4). It’s the tenthstraight season for Howe to make the playoffs.

The photo above is of Jesse Farrer and former Bulldogs Head Coach Jim Fryar at the awards banquet back in 1988. As a youngster, I didn’t really understand why Coach Fryar had such an emotional tie to Farrer. But as I have now coached many kids myself, I get it. Farrer went through an enormous amount of pain and suffering in order to do what he loved the most—be a warrior teammate. Yes, he loved football, but in hindsight, it was that warrior spirit that drove him to limp onto the field when he should’ve been getting x-rays. If you’re a believer as I am, those setbacks on the football field were only in the preparation of a fight that he’s now undergoing with cancer. Make no mistake—you’ve never met a warrior like Jesse.
