Former Mayor Stanley appointed to city council seat
“If there was ever a time to vote hell no, this was it,” said our US Congressman John Ratcliffe in a tweet as an obvious “nay” vote on the impeachment of the President of the United States Donald J. Trump. ******** What a surprise we had on Saturday morning when the entire batch of Howe cheerleaders brought us a big batch of cookies, fudge, brownies, and more! It was part of their 21 Random Acts of Kindness that Cheer Coach Pam Kirby leads them in. What an awesome exercise in leadership and thoughtfulness. It’s also a good way to make me have to exercise. ******** In another act of kindness and leadership, HHS Head Basketball Coach Mike Segleski led his players to a home in Pradera and delivered toys to an entire family for Christmas. ******** Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and sweet salvation of everlasting life through Jesus Christ. Holiday Classic raises money for the American Heart Association Each year, the Howe Middle School staff takes on the eighth grade class and this was the first time in many years that the staff went home for Christmas as losers in a game that ended 53-49 although the staff with their own referees had many opportunities late in the game. The program is named The American Heart Challenge and each player donated $10 to enter the game and attendance was $1. The game is a benefit for the AHA (American Heart Association). Heather Johnson, a representative for AHA, says the money raised is used for research to fund medical breakthroughs to help save
people’s lives. “We also work with advocacy to create laws to be passed that help communities such as smoke-free locations,” said Johnson. The AHA uses this basketball game for kids to learn how to keep their hearts healthy. “We educate the kids and we educate professionals too,” said Johnson. Due to reaching their donation goal, HMS Assistant Principal Mike Segleski and Counselor K’Lain Ashlock had pies in their faces from members of the eighth grade.
