Bulldogs snap 11-game road district losing streak

I was at Arlington Stadium for the final game played there for the Texas Rangers in 1993. The following spring, I was lucky enough to get to be at the first ever game at the Ballpark in Arlington (I still refuse to call it Globe Life Park). The Ballpark was a big part of our family. We spent countless days and hours there before our lives changed to "All Howe - all the time." My mom and I used to go for Mother's Day every year and we saw Rafael Palmeiro hit is 500th home run there one of those days. My wife and I were married on the grounds of the Ballpark overlooking Mark Holtz Lake. My son spent his first birthday there and was on the big screen. I was at the first World series game played there. But on Sunday, we said goodbye. it was a day with my boy at the old yard one more final time. He no longer screams for a certain dot in a race or yells from his lungs for his favorite players or dances to the Cotton Eyed Joe. But to have one more day with my boy at that ballpark was priceless. As we walked through the concourse, I remembered pushing him around in his stroller there. I remember carrying him by my ear there. And now he comes up beyond my ear.

It's been four years since the Howe Bulldogs 1-0 to start district play. In 2015, a statement win over Gunter put Howe on track for a district championship. In real time, Howe made a statement Friday night that they are a formidable district threat once again in 2019. "All year we've been preaching that we're a gritty football team and I told them to go out there and make a statement that we're going to be a force to be reckoned with in district and those boys did it tonight," said Howe Head Coach Bill Jehling. "They came out and made a huge statement for us." The Howe Bulldogs (2-3; 1Howe's Jalen Thornton on his way for one of his four rushing touchdowns on page 3 Friday night in Bonham.
