For the first time in over five years, we've taken a week off from publication. We still have our advertisers, normal columns, and our "Historical Front Pages" in here. We hope you enjoy and celebrate your Independence Day. See you next Monday! When we started this venture we had only one thing in mind - the community of Howe. One thing that was never really considered was the lack of time we'd have off. Two-week vacations are not in the cards for a oneman operation of a news publication. We have been able to get away for three days or so a couple of times, but we've never taken a full week off from publication as we've never missed a Monday since March 17, 2014 when we started. But with five Mondays in July and there's no baseball to coach and no football to coach, the opportunity came up to take a few days off and not work my way through the weekend. As I write this, it is Tuesday and I'm looking forward very much to my first weekend off in five years. If anyone wants to know what I'm going to do with that time off - my 13year-old and I are going to hit the Illinois River and kayak like no one's business. I'm extremely proud of what we've been able to accomplish here in this publication for five years and I look forward to many more.
