State congressmen to highlight Texoma Patriots meeting Tuesday

Tuesday night in at Buck Snort BBQ in downtown Van Alstyne, the Texoma Patriots will feature two local state congressmen to give a recap on the 86th Legislative Session

The two Texas Republican representatives will inform voters on what took place during the 140 days they were in Austin tending to the affairs of “we Texans ” Some have described this 86th session as rather lackluster, but what was accomplished?

The two elected officials are coming to inform the group about what new laws have passed, what never made it for a vote, and what’s on the Governor’s desk awaiting signature

The emphasis this session was on property tax reform The Patriots will come loaded with questions such as - will we see decreases in our taxes? If so, how? If not, why not? What was done to control school tax increases? How is religious liberty for businesses and their owners being protected? Will businesses data mine our children? Is sex education destroying the moral compass of our students? Are taxpayers funding Planned Parenthood? Can conservatives win in 2020? Gun rights Right to Life Election integrity Border security What questions do you want to ask them?

Senator Fallon defeated Craig Estes in the primary for District 30 His victory of 62 percent to Estes' 22 percent gave him momentum in the general election where he defeated Kevin Lopez 74 percent to 26 percent

House Representative Reggie Smith once attended Howe Elementary School and later graduated from Sherman High He defeated Brent Lawson in a primary run-off 71 percent to 29 percent He then won the general election over Valerie Hefner (D) and David Schaab (L) with 76 percent of the vote

The Texoma Patriots will meet at Buck Snort BBQ, 224 E Jefferson St, Van Alstyne, on June 11 at 7 pm The buffet will open at 5 pm and there is no charge to attend the meeting
