Masters is valedictorian, Seniors uphold traditions; graduation set for Saturday Moss is salutatorian

Have you ever made a joke behind a microphone speaking to a full room and the joke goes over like a lead balloon? That happened to this guy on Friday at the Howe High School ribboncutting. The joke was something to the effect that all of us who have graduated from Howe High School have one thing in common - we all grew up wearing the black and white....with the exception of Clarissia Doty (crickets). Oh well, Mrs. Doty and I love to joke with each other about the red accent that Betty Mullins brought to Howe back in the 80s. The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a crawfish boil Saturday night downtown. It was a tricky situation of trying to get around 100 people there. Those kinds of things can get out of control in a hurry. Without advertising it to the public, we were counting on the chamber members to make a good showing. However, only about half of what we were anticipated showed up. If we'd have advertised it to the public, we'd have likely had 500 people there and have had to turn people away. It was sponsored by Tomlin Investments and 903 Brewers who had their product available on-site for the event. I know a lot of you may be upset that you missed it and so are we. But I'll go ahead and let you know that the food was AMAZING with ham, sausage, corn, and potatoes to go along with the bugs. With all of that said, we're blaming it on the rain.
