The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce officially opened up the nomination process on Thursday for this year's Howe Hall of Honor class

The Howe Hall of Honor was established in 2015 and since has served as the gateway to the Founders Day Festival which takes place the following day This year's event will be held on Friday, May 3 at 6:30 pm at the Howe Chamber/EDC office

A year ago, the inductions were Harold Taylor, Norman Bennett, Tommy Skipworth, and Bob Williams

The Howe Hall of Honor is a way of highlighting and maintaining the rich heritage in the great town of Howe In addition, it serves as a means of recognizing, preserving, and honoring the individuals who made significant contributions to the Howe community

The Howe Chamber of Commerce will induct four individuals in 2019 (two living and two deceased) The nomination period ends at midnight, February 28, 2019 At that time, the public will vote on the top 10 nominees for the selection of two living inductees and two deceased inductees

The following members have already been inducted into the Howe Hall of Honor: Jabez

Haning, WP Thompson, A M Ferguson, Mame Roberts, Charles Thompson, Arthur Boyle, Tony Brinkley, L B Kirby, Norma Wallace, Ray Bledsoe, Carrie Waller, Elmer Schenk, Norman Dickey, Jimmy Bearden, Steve Simmons, Donal Gilstrap, Jean Norman, J J Chisum, Bob Walker, Tommy Skipworth, Bob Williams, Harold Taylor, and Norman Bennett

Early nominations that came in were for Marion Allison, Jerry Kirby, Bill Smith, Chris Troxtell, and Linda Wall

The chamber also announced the sale of vendor spaces for the upcoming Founders Day Festival to be held May 4, 2019 from 2 pm to 8 pm Nine vendors already signed up the first day and reserved their space in downtown Vendor spaces are $10 each

This will be the 33rd Annual Founders Day Festival although there were a few years where it was canceled

The chamber has not yet determined who the musical entertainment will be, but are still planning on returning the "Kid Zone" and the very popular kid train as well as limbo and other kid-friendly family events
