City to make $300,000 investment in water upgrades

Last week Keep Howe Beautiful had 13 volunteers that collected 19 bags of trash and three bags of plant material for compost for the Fall Trash Off. Volunteers picked up trash on all four sides of the US 75 and Haning Street intersection. KHB wants to send a big thank you to the volunteers and special thanks to Sonic for providing coupons for the children that participated.

Bulldogs open season with 77-63 win over Callisburg
The City of Howe is financing capital improvement projects totaling $300,000 and doing so by refinancing the city's existing series 2009 Certificates of Obligation (CO). "What this is for is we're going to do some upgrades to the water system," said Mayor Jeff Stanley in Tuesday's council meeting. "You (the council) gave us the okay to go on to the surface water back a few months ago. This money will get us to where we need to be where we can use that surface water." page 2

City annexes property on Highway 5 near Old Patterson Road
The Howe Bulldogs slammed open the door of the 2018-19 season on Tuesday night with a 77-63 win over Callisburg at home.

We incorrectly named the officers for Keep Howe Beautiful in last week's edition. The executive director is Becky Hogenson with Curt Beckemeyer serving as president.
