Howe's That A month ago or so we put a little red box outside of the Howe Development Alliance/Howe Chamber office. The only thing we forgot to do was check to see if anyone ever left anything in there when were were away from the office. Well, we finally opened it up recently and found a dampened envelope that had a nice note from a reader and an interesting July 1966 article from the Grain Producers News Magazine. The article truly highlights big changes in our society, but also hammers home some needs that would or should never change. The rise of the woman in business has been real and one of the greatest victories of the last 50 years. During the same 50 years, the declining of neighborhoods and community spirit across the country could be on crisis level, although I don't think we necessarily feel that same sense in our village. One could visit the community pep rally, or the upcoming Founders Day Festival and feel like Howe is still the neighborhood Mayberry R.F.D. that it was in 1966, or say 1986.
